Ideas for the past week worked out pretty well.
Appetites and interest in food are generally back (for mom that is) so sprinkling some new things in with favorites for them to try before I head home.
Ideas for the coming week:
- Masala pot roast OR Beef rendang
- Pizza – been way too long, but I have to make the sauces (incl pesto which I ran out of) and bases so it will be a few days
- Ants climbing trees (veggie version for mom) OR Kheema macaroni
- Maki OR Sushi bowls (cabbage, carrot, avocado, cucumber + smoked salmon)
- Pad see ew (dried rice noodles) + chicken larb
- Pork shoulder (momofuku or otherwise) or ribs
- Fondue with assorted dippers
Baking plan for the week:
Pizza bases (Roberta’s dough / Bittman method)
Citrus cake of some sort
Banana bread (or freeze the overripe bananas)
What we ate over the past week (most from the list, few things off plan)
- (Tonight) Pan-roasted chicken thighs (Julia Turshen / prior COTM Small Victories – Indecision Chicken – so good!) + fennel & mosambi / sweet lime salad + leftover mushroom risotto
- Harissa & smoked paprika chicken thighs + baked pasta florentine
- Pressure cooker mushroom risotto + shrimp in butter garlic sauce
- Sandwich night – Ham and cheese, Smoked salmon and cream cheese, Cheddar and mustard, Tomato, and Bombay chutney-potato + carrots & cucumbers
- Chinese takeout – Hakka noodles, garlic fried rice, soy chilli chicken, szechuan chicken lollipops, and paneer manchurian
- Scallion-ginger noodles + leftover bulgogi
- Cauliflower cheese (COTM Thomas Keller) + fresh bread + Kathi rolls
- Roast chicken (COTM Thomas Keller), potatoes & onions underneath + schmaltzy rice + tomato salad (2 full meals)
