Below is a link to the details and pjctures of Mrs. P’s fabulous July 4th dinner.
Mrs. P made a fabulous dinner for July 4th We started off with an appetizer of fresh roasted figs stuffed with blue cheese, pine nuts, and balsamic syrup. For an entree we had an unusual surf and turf of blackened filet mignon with a Cajun dry rub, topped with blue cheese, and a lobster mac and cheese with gruyere, smoked gouda, and parmigiano reggiano. It was a real cheeseapalooza It all went great with a 2012 Valdez red zinfandel. For dessert she made cherry sorb…

Nice Greg. Do you cook lobster yourself or buy already cooked?

Thanks Mr. Met! Yes, unfortunately it was too hot to eat on the deck, even with the umbrella up. It was just too humid.
Nice. I’ve never tried buying it there steamed before but think I have to give it a try next time bugs are on sale there. The process to cook them st home is so unappealing that I think it’ll be only way I’ll get to enjoy them. Two lobster rolls for under 15 is a steal.

It saves a lot of mess and trouble which is why I have them do it. We bought three lobsters which totaled about $28 (after the discount) and they yielded six lobster rolls.
In my experience, one lobster USUALLY equals two rolls. But alas, sometimes the bug is deceiving. This batch was perfectly two each. Luck of the draw.

As posted in this thread, I tried my new air fryer out tonight:
Air fryer chicken cutlets. First time using it. Not as good as fried but much better than oven-baked. Still tweaking the time and rotation inside the fryer. At least they were crispy.

We had an excellent dinner at Le Salbuen in Montclair, NJ. We shared several appetizers including a literal flaming chorizo sausage that came out on fire. It had a nice char and snap to it. We also had awesome duck tacos with purple kimchi, in a cilantro lime emulsion. Our 3rd appetizer was a crispy short rib and blue cheese empanada.
For entrees I had the fork tender braised duck frites with kimchi, Parisian carrots, onion, tomato, in a Chianti gravy. Mrs. P had Asian crusted sweet potato with…

We ate at a new restaurant in Montclair called Cafe Moso (for Montclair South). They had a nice special of any 3 appetizers for $30 or 4 for $40. The 3 appetizers we had would have normally gone for $45. We shared crispy Maryland crab cakes with roasted corn and poblano salsa, with a whole grain mustard and chipotle aioli; blackened cod fish tacos, with a roasted poblano slaw, pico de gallo, and Oaxaca cheese; chargrilled Spanish octopus with Israeli couscous, and a roasted pepper nicoise olive…
