Hi everyone
Boo to weather that was back in the 40s, then 80, and now wet and back to 40s-50s for the next week or so. Blargh. Maybe I should be happy that my replacement winter coat is getting some use, but I’d rather have sun and warmth!
More meals out last week than intended, some due to visitors, and some due to friends, though all delicious, and with people with whom I always want more time. There was Spanish, sushi, and Korean bar food (that was much better than that sounds).
I did finally make dough for puri / bhatura to go with the chickpeas I made twice the previous week, but then used the rest of the dough to make stuffed parathas — of all the fussy things in the world to make to use up extra dough (because I am a weirdo who doesn’t actually like puris much, other than with very specific things like chickpeas).
This week, I’d like to use up some ingredients that I was excited about but got relegated to the freezer when I didn’t get to them – salmon strips, chicken, ahi tuna, and mussels, for starters. Also keeping up on my yogurt / kefir and legume consumption goals.
I finally got around to starting a new loaf of no-knead bread, which I’ll bake before the weekend. And I might bake something for my friend’s kid who’s in town for the week – I had swiss roll on my mind, but a loaf cake of some sort might make more sense for him to take home.
