I make a cold, uncooked beet salad that has northern roots (haha) without potato. Amazingly it has shredded coconut and sesame oil in it. Different, but delish!

I liked my adaptation of the Vikalinka recipe.
I substituted green onion for shallots, and concentrated sour cherry juice for pomegranate molasses. I omitted the mustard. I added some white balsamic condimento.

Yes, both. (Donât go past golden, or youâll end up with burnt dal because golden to brown is a few seconds.)
Mustard seeds pop, cumin seeds brown but donât pop. Asafoetida first, anything wet last (curry leaves, garlic, onions).
