Let's introduce ourselves and get to know one another better

Cool! It seems a lot of us are in California… I just want to say it’s soooo cool you’re a librarian, our favorite place is the local library!

It’s one of my favorite places, too  whereabouts in CA?

Your business…its not shameless self-promotion if someone asks!

My husband and i created an overnight oats mix that is well loved and it’s pretty awesome!

Our favorite library is the Central Library in Huntington Beach, it’s amazing. Great kids content, plus a coffee cart for mom lol

I understand… if you would like some lentil ideas, let me know and I’ll post some of my favorites.

As for bolognese, how do you feel about lentil meatballs??

I definitely welcome more veggie/vegan voices here. I’m pescatarian now but was veggie for many years.

I’m in Greater Boston. Looking forward to seeing your contributions on this board.

Welcome @iheartcooking!

I have fallen in love with a duxelles of mushrooms in a Bolognese. I also like to add (not substitute) finely chopped walnuts.

Yes this is my go-to, but my husband was recently told to cut back on them due to a health condition! Awful… I still use them but I usually use a little combination of things to get that texture. Which actually makes sense, when I made it with meat and was going all-out I would use a mix of sausage and different meats. Now if I might do mushrooms, cauliflower (trust me) lentils, and Beyond Sausage (wish I could quit you!).

I’m new, but have been lurking and and decided to make an account to join in the discussions! I’m currently based in Colorado, but have live all over the US due to work. I’m very passionate in cooking/baking especially Vietnamese food, but I like dabbling in a little bit of anything. Sadly, baking has to take a bit of a slowdown, since converting recipes to high altitude has been painful.

Welcome to our community, @tuyen! I love Vietnamese food & hope you will participate in our most popular thread, WFD = What’s for dinner?

I just recently found one of my favorite new hot sauces at a local Vietnamese market

Hi! I’ve been reading HO for years (and used to read CH). Figured I’d join. I’m from OK but have lived in MD, NYC, NJ but now moving back to the Baltimore area in the next couple of months. I’ve been obsessed with food, eating and making it, since I was a was a kid. Love talking about it, sharing it and looking for new recipes to try out on my husband and toddler. Wish to find foodie friends and possibly work with food in some capacity, but haven’t been lucky yet on either front.

Welcome to the forum. I lived in Baltimore many, many years ago. (41st Street & Falls Rd.) I’m sure a lot has changed since I was there.

What area are you looking to move to??

Welcome!

We have an active baking community here, fun to both participate and observe, also very helpful folks.

There’s a monthly baking thread and also a quarterly Baking Cookbook thread for folks to bake along together. Right now there’s a holiday treats thread too (which is likely about to get very active).

We’ve had a few group cooking turns at Vietnamese on Cuisine of the Quarter and Cookbook of the Month, and those discussions stay open forever so you can add to them anytime.

I love Vietnamese food and have learned to make a few favorite dishes via those threads.
