April Food Celebrations

Did you know that April 4th is National Burrito Day?
There are lots of other food celebrations that go on during April.
Do you have a favorite, or more than one?

Correction: National Burrito Day is April 3d, not 4th (first Thursday in April). But the more important question is why does the burrito only get one day a year, when the taco gets a day every week? Stuff like that keeps me awake at night!

Here’s a nifty list (similar to a link I posted in the March celebrations thread)

Also this

Alliteration is a powerful marketing tool. And now Taco Tuesday is no longer trademarked.

Two big religious holidays in April with lots of food — ie Easter and Passover — have continuing standalone threads linked below.

I think Id/ Eid celebrations may be extending till tomorrow, though they started yesterday.

Haha

I’ve lucked into two Easter dinners this year — one with extended family, one with my Greek friend’s family 2 weeks later.

Now on to Seders.

Sweet.

Thank you for the correction. I was misinformed. You’re right, the lowly burrito needs to be celebrated more often!

Maybe we should try starting “Mission Burrito Monday”!

Am I the only one who opened this thread thinking it was April Fool Celebrations and hoping it had a lot of banana recipes?

You need to get over here double-quick!

Hmm. Orthodox and Western Easter this year are on the same date, April 20.

I thought perhaps some ppl were doing an early Easter meal together because ppl were available on a specific date.

Except my family gatherings are not

4/20, which technically isn’t a food holiday, but you bet your sweet bippy that a lot of snack foods will be celebrated for their mere existence in proximity

I already have tickets to a 4/20 showing of Sinners (new horror movie directed by Ryan Coogler starring Michael B. Jordan) and I’m pretty sure there will be a rather indulgent lunch before hand. Possibly Korean fried chicken, or a poke bowl.

Here are your national (US) crappy burrito bargains on this, National Burrito Day.

I had completely forgotten today was NBD, but coincidentally Mrs. ricepad and I tried a new (to us) Mexican joint while we were out running errands today. She had a burrito mojado, while I ordered quesabirria tacos. I was a little surprised when the server gave me a choice of meat, between beef and goat! Naturally, I wanted chivo, especially at no extra cost.
