What's for lunch (2026)

If I were invited to your place, I’d try to negotiate eating dessert first! Looks great!

The wind is blowing, the snow is snowing but I’ve got my crepes to keep me warm. These are filled with lightly sweetened , homemade ricotta and topped with boozy fruit and apricot jam with butter. I had a little jam left in the jar and added butter and a dash of water and warmed it prior to pouring over the crepes. The crepes also got a half minute in the micro, next time I’ll remember the kumquats.

i love apricot jam palacsinta, quite similar to your crêpes.

Shredded Italian beef (recipe previously posted on HO here). One change from that - use 1/2 tsp dried crushed rosemary. I like to use about a pound of Costco beef stew meat for this, and whichever beer we have in the fridge as the roasting liquid. Served over warmed baguette, with a bag salad on the side. Fresh pear half and a Rice Krispie bar for dessert.

I drizzled some of the apricot jam/butter mixture over the ricotta before I folded the crepe over. Apricot and raspberry jam are the best!

Sausage tortellini soup, or one-pan-meal if you add the cornstarch to thicken. This is a recipe that I’ve linked to before - always a winner, for lunch or for dinner. With bag salad on the side, working my way down from an excessive BOGO purchase of 4 and found 1 already in the crisper drawer when I tried to stash them.

Chili and coriander marinaded monkfish cheek pan fried in foaming butter, with crispy bacon pieces (which were in hindsight superfluous), lettuce, tzatziki, and sriracha.

The tzatziki and sriracha combination i first encountered in what is still one of the top 5 best burgers i have had - minted lamb burger, with feta, taztziki, and sriracha.
