I bought a large heirloom tomato yesterday and today for lunch made a furikake tomato sandwich following Eric Kim’s recipe from the New York Times:
It turned out well, the furikake definitely adds to the umami, as well as the Kewpie mayo I used which also has some MSG.
Leftover bits with basil, EVOO, and coarse sea salt.
I’ll have to try this with my next tomato sandwich. I have all the ingredients, my Kewpie is non MSG, but I have some I can add.
Two salads: egg and leftover salmon, heirloom tomato in between, on whole wheat. Messy, but delicious.
ETA: The tomato:
BCD medium hot soondubu jjigae kit, added zucchini, bacon, onions, kimchi, and scallion. Cooked in a saucepan and transferred to a ttukbaegi clay pot that had been heated in the toaster oven for awhile. I mixed in an egg.
Lunch today was a chicken pesto sandwich. It was a pretty big sandwich so I had half for lunch today so I will have the other half tomorrow.
I love a good chicken sammie for lunch. One of my favorite combos is chicken, bacon, avocado, ideally with a flavored mayo like aioli, or green goddess, or some tarragon mayo.

I made a bacon and avocado sandwich once and it was really good. Adding chicken sounds tasty.
I bought today’s sandwich at an Italian deli so theyusually have porchetta, eggplant parmigiana, meatball sandwiches etc. They are always generous with the filling. The sandwich I ordered today had chicken coated with a pesto sauce and it was really nice.
