What's for lunch? (2025)

What’s that? Are you involved in arm wrestling?

Nothing that exciting. Just exercising at the gym

Also, it’d be not much of a contest, given my rotator cuff tear from a couple years ago…

Arugula salad with tomatoes, corn and goat cheese.

some of the last backyard tomatoes resulted in a sauce which resulted in lasagna.

Wow, that’s a gorgeous lasagna!

Lettuce cups again, little gems with leftover Greek salad and avocado, sous-vide poached salmon.

Leftover Sichuan green beans wolfed down in between running various errands.

Almost better than the first time around, and it left my mouth pleasantly tingling and with a noticeable burn :face_savoring_food:

I spent the day in the mall today so I had lunch in the food court deciding to settle for Greek. I ordered a lamb platter which included roasted lamb, salad, rice and potatoes. It was the most disgusting meal I’ve had in recent memory. I haven’t had Greek food in awhile and given that it’s food court food I set the bar pretty low and I was still disappointed. The lamb was dried out and the rice and vegetables were really watery. It tasted like they cooked the rice in too much water and didn’t rinse off the excess liquid, it looked like they might have washed the salad veggies in water but didn’t rinse them and the potatoes tasted like they had been boiled instead of roasted. And the orange disk on top of the rice was the mushiest most overcooked carrot I have ever tasted. Needless to say I won’t ever be going back to that place. I can’t seem to upload photos ftom my phone but trust me, lunch was gross.

Edit: I was abĺe to forward the photo to my tablet. The photo looks better than it tasted.

Ugh

It was. That meal cost $20 and I was expecting it to cost more since there is lamb in the dish and lamb is expensive. And I have to admit there was quite a bit of meat in it but everything tasted awful. I’m usually pretty easy to please but that meal was not good.

Hey — at least you didn’t get food poisoning

That’s true! I have this week off and tomorrow I’m going to Chinatown. The Chinese grocer I go to has a take out counter and I have personally sampled all their dishes and everything tastes good except for the sweet and sour chicken which is mostly sweet and no sour. They don’t have it out very often anyway and there’s lots to pick from so I won’t starve

Those are definitely NOT roasted potatoes. Sorry lunch was such a disappointment.

Agreed. I’ve eaten at Greek restaurants before and the potatoes I’ve been served have always been roasted. When I go back to that mall at least I will know where not to go.

I took a friend about 45 minutes out of town for a medical procedure, and was looking for a decent lunch place in the area while waiting for her to be ready to be picked up and taken home.

I discovered a cute little café in the “downtown” area.

Their special on offer for Wednesdays was brisket, so I opted for a grilled cheese & brisket sandwich..

As you can see, it was chock full of tender brisket, and they didn’t skimp on the cheese, either. I finished half of it, then had a kid’s” scoop of praline pecan ice cream for dessert.

I told the girl behind the counter if that is the kid’s scoop, I don’t want to know how big the adult scoop is. That said, I finished it all.

There’s always room for ice cream

Last night’s leftover salad after an intense, shweaty pickleball match my PIC only barely tied up bc I was exhausted from kicking his ass in the first 3 games

The black plastic serving vessel gives it that certain je ne sais quoi

One pan ground turkey and veggies skillet, served with naan bread and fruit (fresh peaches, red grapes). The recipe made 4-6 generous servings, so it will be another meal or two for us. Fast, easy, flavorful - my kind of cooking these days.
