Every year the property management company that owns my office building has a tenant appreciation bbq for the tenants. It was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to covid. Last year’s bbq resumed following previous year’s tradition with a choice of a sausage or a burger with a bowls of coleslaw and potato salad available so you could help yourself. Everything ran efficiently never having to wait in line for more than 10 minutes. This year they only had burgers available and with fries on the side. They had the burgers foil wrapped and placed in take out containers with the fries so everything was already packaged up to just give to us. Despite a seemingly more efficient system I still had to wait 45 minutes to get my burger. Toppings were on a separate table and included the usual mustard, ketchup etc. Brownie points this year because they had crispy onions to place on top of my burger and mayo for dipping my fries into. I’m okay with just the hamburger option but I would have preferred a salad over fries. Pictured is the ginormous burger topped with crispy onions, lettuce and sliced tomato as well as fries and pickles on the side.

Technically breakfast, but ya can’t call it that at 2:45pm: Sam’s Club glizzy with shit ketchup and French’s mustard. No onions, as usual :frowning:

Still hit the spot, for I was hongry.

Lunch today was a rainbow maki. It was delicious. I really should have sushi more often.

I’m not sure why, exactly, but as I’ve gotten older, I have come to realize that a fried egg on top of anything is almost always the pro move.

Slow cooker ham and potato soup with bread, and a fruit salad side - diced Colorado peach, red grapes, diced Ginger Gold apple from yesterday’s orchard visit. Also slices of a small loaf of bread from the orchard. I made a half-batch of the soup and we’ll get another generous main dish meal for two from that.

Peckish mid-afternoon after a late breakfast, but didn’t want anything major at this hour.

I had a bit of baby butter lettuce withering away, a few heirloom cherry & grape tomatoes from the FM, and 1/2 a perfectly ripe avocado. Tossed with TJ’s buttermilk ranch & a lot of fresh ground pepper.

Tamale pie, half recipe, in an 8x8 pan. I did not want to go out shopping (again) for the cornbread mix I forgot to get over the weekend, so made my own batch with the cornmeal back-of-the-canister recipe. I used chili powder instead of chipotle powder in the meat mixture. Very tasty and even the reduced recipe made 6 generous servings, so we’ll have at least 2 more meals for two.

After a short but strenuous PT sesh I’d only grabbed a couple of spoons of yogurt before running out again, so I was pretty hongry when I got home. Tuna salad with half an avocado splashed with lemon juice & shprinkled with black pepper.
