BF made dumplings 4 ways: a little broth with one, and tofu, regular dumplings, siu mai, and gyoza - all variations of pork, shrooms, cabbage, baby bok choy, and sesame oil, garlic, ginger. he wasn’t happy with the way they turned out but I gobbled them up. My still very fresh kimchi to go with.
The key question with fondue if everybody got drunk due to dropping the bread ?
Risi e bisi - arborio rice, pancetta, peas, onion, garlic, parmesan, parsley, chicken broth and lemon juice
Of all the wonderful meals you’ve shared with us this past year, this is my favorite. Gorgeous bowl of food!
Dinner Tonight: Grilled Fish Tacos, Chả Cá Flavors (turmeric, ginger, shrimp paste), loosely adapted from this Serious Eats recipe: https://www.seriouseats.com/seriously-asian-cha-ca-seared-fish-with-tumeric-over-rice-noodles-vietnamese-recipe . Given the choice, BF will always choose a tortilla over rice noodles and, as this is the last night we’re spending before he goes to his parents tomorrow (back on the plane here by Monday night), how could I say no?
He told me that this is the best fish taco he has ever had (and he loves his Baja style, batter fried ones when we are visiting San Diego)!
Garganelli pasta with a couple of sliced and sauteed b/s chicken thighs, sliced onions, red bell pepper, and sugar snap peas, with a sauce of President garlic-herb cheese, grated Parm-Reg, heavy cream, 1% milk, pasta water, and dried oregano, parsley, marjoram, and savory, with grated Parm-Reg sprinkled on top.
There was wine.
Grilled chicken breast with provencal vegetables (Eggplant, zucchini, red pepper, onion, fennel) and roasted garlic aioli (the puddle of yellow in the ramekin).
Asian eggplant, shiitake mushrooms and red pepper with Thai basil, Serrano Chiles, fish sauce, soy sauce, kecap manis and a splash of lime juice. I love green papaya salads but the papayas are hard to find locally. Since I had some nice crunchy bean sprouts I decided use them in lieu of papaya. I also had a few peas leftover so I threw them in too.
at my request, the BF made one of our simplest and beloved dinners - sausage and boiled, super buttery potatoes with parsley. Sausages were garlic and white wine, and he grilled the tomatoes in the pan with the them for extra flavor. plus, a little drizzle of the oil from the garlic confit i made yesterday. Found this cute little Le Creuset mini cocotte and had to have it.
my heart just skipped a beat!
that looks/sounds wonderful… and I’m with the BF - make everything into a taco please!
Baked hake with Old Bay, spaghetti squash with garlic, parsley and parm, half a Yonah Schimmel’s mushroom knish from my diminishing freezer hoard.
Get in mah belly!
Same. Give unripe mango a try!
We had dinner out (sans kid, yay!), but for lunch I made crispy quinoa bowls with spicy sesame cabbage and turnip slaw, pickled daikon and celery, pickled ginger, and leftover butternut squash, broccoli, sweet potato and peppers from last night’s fondue repast. Panko shrimp as the protein and Sriracha mayo drizzle over all.
Great idea. Thanks
German-style dinner - Frikadellen (pork and beef mix) with green beans and crispy bacon mashed potatoes
Last night DH made the most AHmazing vegetarian French onion soup (mushroom broth). Roasted parmesan Brussels sprouts on the side.
Really hit the spot as the weather is turning colder.
