Sorry you lost power. I had a couple of hard rainstorms with high winds (VERY HIGH winds! Tractor trailers on 495 South near Andover were having problems staying in their lanes while driving home in the driving rain and winds), but then it cleared up after I got home. Hopefully you have power back now!
Thank you. It was lovely.
We were very lucky as though we live very close to the ocean it seems the worst of the weather and power outages were west of us. Even just a couple of miles away got hit harder.
Thanks, Linda. I was wondering about you too as I recall you are one of the peeps not so far away from me. We’re still without power but now with restoration estimated later this afternoon.
Meanwhile it’s the portable generator to the rescue.
WOW that sounds and looks delicious! I’m terribly lazy about stuff like this; as much as I want to, I won’t spend the time making this for myself (I live alone and without people to share it with, I won’t make that kind of effort), but I bet I’d love this!
100% those subs will work. I really think you need chaat masala, though - got that? Or at least the components?
I imagine it would hold okay, although lime juice and salt will wilt things a bit. We finished the whole batch. Would have added fried cashews if we weren’t dieting.
Proportions were about 2-3 Tbsp vegetable oil heated, 1 tsp black mustard seeds, generous 1/2 tsp salt, 2 tsp sugar, a pinch of Kashmir chili (it’s really hot!), a palmful of toasted shredded coconut, a good tsp or two of chaat masala, juice of a whole lime, 2 tiny heads of green cabbage (4 c.?), 1 cucumber, handful of chopped cilantro and basil (the latter optional), and about 1 tbsp toasted sesame seed. Cool the mustard seeds and oil fully before proceeding (burned the other ingredients that I rushed NO LESS than twice.)
Happy Anniversary, you two!! Tell him to keep fishing/stocking the freezer.
Thanks so much. This will really help get the flavor profile right. I love popping mustard seeds!
Thank you. Let me know when you have room in your freezer for fish.
Oral surgery yesterday, so soft food required. Sausage and mushroom gravy over mashed potatoes, and fresh garden beans. Guess the wasps didn’t like the food, because they didn’t bother us last night. Too reminiscent of the ubiquitous hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes for school lunches in the 60’s maybe. All that was missing were the big fluffy rolls and little milk boxes.
Hope you’re feeling better.
Thanks @MsBean, I can assure you I was quite comfortable!
That happened to my husband in the last 3 months or so. Paypal, Amazon, and one other, hacked. Lots of phone time, lots of stress. My sympathies to you!!!
Yes on change your passwords. Also, convert as many accounts as you can to 2FA.
I use it wherever I can.
Oops I think I meant this for @gcaggiano
I thought so. He should use it, too.
Dinner salad tonight with CSA roasted beets and basil, peaches we picked, homegrown kale, our neighbor’s broccoli sprouts, homemade lemon-honey goat cheese, toasted walnuts, oo, and s&p. Very yum.
A big-ass salad, because I needed to use up some sad Imagonnadieinyourfridgeifyoudontusemeup lettuce and the rest of the roast chicken from Sunday.
Lettuce, chopped chicken, one of my Ramapo tomatoes, English cukes, radishes, red bell pepper, carrots, goat cheese, and dried cranberries, with a lime-pepper vinaigrette.
It was OK. It opened up some space in my fridge.
Wine.
Because invoicing sucked these past couple of days.
And because Wednesday.
And because.
Just returned from a week in the Finger Lakes and finally got groceries restocked this morning (have been living on eggs and pantry stuff since Sunday). Picked up some bone in skin on Perdue chicken thighs and decided to debone them and pan roast for crispy skin. Unfortunately, the skin on these was weird and flabby and didn’t render properly, and the meat was stringy and dry. I don’t usually buy Perdue chicken so I don’t know if this is typical or an anomaly, but I’ll choose a different brand next time. At least the lemon-yogurt sauce with fresh basil and mint was good. Parmesan broccoli alongside. Felt very virtuous after a week of dietary debauchery!
