We landed in Orlando with a 2hr delay, so our planned lunch at the German place in Sanford was out of the question. However, we wanted to pick up some beer at the adjacent German market and happened upon a sizable food truck festival nearby. We split 4 tacos (asada & carnitas) from one of the trucks that were pretty unremarkable,
then grabbed a couple of 6-packs Kölsch and made our way to the Space Coast
After pool-side aperitivi of Peronis and a Boodles martini while watching our hosts’ chocolate lab puppy dive for tennis balls in the pool, we dined on deliciously juicy & crispy chicken cutlets,
Dover sole stuffed with minced shrimp and lion’s mane, avocado, and roasted red pepper. Sauteed in EVOO with reduced cherry tomatoes and olives. Over brown rice. The tomatoes kind of overpowered the subtlety of the stuffing. Oh well.
Tonight, I pan-roasted a chicken thigh. Accompanied by mashed sweet potato with herb lime salsa inspired by an Ottolenghi recipe from an old COTM and blanched broccoli.
Last night, takeout sushi with friends (from a place we normally eat in at). Omakases, rock shrimp tempura, miso soup. Dessert was orange blondies baked by me.
Variation on Stifado - beef chuck with plenty of pearl onions and garlic get braised in a mix of beef broth, marsala, diced tomatoes, oregano, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, tomato paste and bay leaves. Finished with some red wine vinegar. Served with orzo and some simple broccoli rabe (first blanched and then quickly pan-fried with garlic)
Baked Korean chicken wings, with a variety of banchan (my too-fresh perilla kimchi, older radish kimchi, and scallion kimchi from the H Mart haul. BF also pickled carrots and daikon. Rice, red leaf lettuce, store-bought kimchi cukes and Japanese pickles rounded it all out.

The last of the leftover chili mentioned upthread, this time with some leftover sliced sirloin that had been fajita meat tossed in to finish it off, too.
Pic1 is after heating and melting in about 60 g of smoked gouda, then pic2 is after playing games with sour cream in a “piping bag” (sandwich bag with corner cut off).
And my son’s Friday night salmon dinner before he headed back here on spring break. I mentioned above that he’s doing a lot more cooking himself vs. relying on school cafeteria/restaurants.
I love the piping on the chili! Playing Jackson Pollock drip art painting on food is one of my favorite activities. Back in the 1980s (was it?) era of plating divided soups, I once followed a Bon Appetit recipe for divided tomato/red pepper and corn corn soups with cilantro garlic jalapeno sauce randomly dribbled over both.

I made Peruvian-style roasted chicken with homemade green sauce, sweet potato wedges, black beans, and pineapple on the side. The skin was super crispy, even if we didn’t eat much of it.
Last night’s birthday dinner was from the Italian grocer I frequent. They are now carrying prepared mesls so I bought a Greek salad to start, then moved onto a cheese ravioli with an alfredo sauce, then had a tiramisu for dessert.
Thank you! I spent a lovely afternoon at the National Gallery of Canada to tie in an exhibition of drawings. I love visiting art galleries and I love drawings so that exhibition was one of my favourites. Below is one of my favourite drawings - a Sultan’s Palace in Marakesh.
