And I’m appreciative of our community here. Thank you guys for keeping me in your thoughts and letting me vent. It’s been a lot. It helps me to know that some of you have been through this and come out the other side okay.
Eventually you get sick of cold cereal and cheese. And you have to try something new.
Stuffed peppers., I use my meatball mix. Topped with seasoned tomato sauce and mozzarella. Angel hair pasta with canned clams. Garlic toast. I still don’t quite get the allure of fresh parsley, but keep giving it the old college try.
finally got around to the Chef John short rib pizzaiola tonight. I made cheesy (fresh mozz) polenta to go with, and roasted a couple of delicata squashes too. probably too much starch in one meal, but the BF will turn the leftover delicata into soup. I loved the short ribs and polenta. The sauce was tangy with a little heat (i halved the recipe but doubled the chili flakes) and the beef was pull-apart tender. The BF will probably turn the leftover polenta into squares and fry them.
My dude had a late night at work, so we had a snacky meal with various sundry cheeses, the last of the porchetta, and Serrano, marinated white beans & anchovies, ginormous olives that are a massive PITA to eat & I don’t know why we buy them, and a small burrata Caprese with avocado. Hit the spots.
Salt-and-pepper wings roasted in the oven. Pasta salad, with peppers, shallots, olives, spinach, pine nuts, and parm – all in a standard 3:1 vinaigrette. I prepped enough salad fixings to carry over another day.
Yay, great news!
I’m gonna call it a mezze meal - pita, dolmas, and toum from the farmers market; falafel-zucchini fritters, roasted eggplant, hummus, greekish salad, lemon rice made by me. Good and a bunch of leftovers for tomorrow.
Tonight’s dinner was Salmon burgers from COTM NY Times, lemon rice, and steamed broccoli.
.
Last night’s dinner was Indian food at a place I have been to try for a long time.
My favorites were a soft goat kabab, goat curry, and fish steamed in banana leaf.
.
Came home and barely got a ham and swiss sandwich down, so tired after not sleeping last night (bag of nerves). Then proceded to take a nap, not cat involved, he slept elsewhere. However for dinner, I made my take on grandpa’s (b. 1882) weiner schnitzel recipe (it is battered, not crumbed), wide egg nunus and a big old green salad. No restaurant fare today. General anesthesia fog.
Pizza night, spooky season edition, with scary skull mushrooms!
Also regular ol’ margherita pizza that mysteriously shrank in the oven.
And chilled cucumber / avocado / yogurt soup with poached scallops.
I think the mystery of why I’m having trouble losing weight is pretty well solved.
Then you should really try Human Robot in Philly as that is their speciality
Wunderbar! There’s a branch near us.
Turkey cheeseburgers on brioche buns with honeycrisp apples last night. I got 4 patties/$2.99 (1lb) – too good to pass up!
That is the neatest idea! What did you put on the mushrooms to make the eyes?
Abendbrot is always a good choice for an easy Meal.
I usually Sleep better after than when I have a more “American” Dinner
I slept like a log
I gouged them out with a straw!
