BAAZI
Have been meaning to go here for a while. This is what the Awadh folks opened, I believe (but they were thwarted by the pandemic and closed and reopened again some time later).
Plan was actually to go to Lungi, but turns out they are closed on Tuesdays, go figure. Glad we ended up here, though.
Lovely room, delicious food (phew), great cocktails! We’ll be back.
There was a fun amuse bouche of a single pani puri served as a shot glass of the spiced water with the crunchy ball of a puri with a bit of the usual stuffing on top.
We had Kurkuri bhindi (crunchy okra “fries”)to start with our drinks, and then asked them to bring out everything either together or as it was ready, which worked out nicely as a we got a mix of kebabs and mains in alternating order.
.
Goat Galauti Kabab – this was the real deal, just lovely. Soft as butter, perfectly spiced, and served with a buttered rumali roti (which I suspect was from frozen, but I don’t care, the kabab was perfect).
.
Amritsari Fish – my friend insisted on this, so we got it. It’s basically a well-spiced fish pakoda, This was well-made and well-flavored for what it was. The reason I don’t love the dish is the oily chickpea batter. But it was tasty.
.
Chicken Tawa Seekh – this was the weakest of the kababs, probably because they took a perfectly good chicken seekh kabab and then doused it in what I am guessing was thick dal and an even thicker coating of Amul cheese.
.
Goat Bihari – this was nicely made goat curry, well-balanced in flavors and the goat was tender. Tiny portion thought.
.
Fish Pollichattu – banana leaf wrapped fish in a spice paste, served with tempered rice and potato. The only composed dish. It was delicious!

Dessert was the Big Dud of the night – one of my friends looked at the dish, looked up at the server, and said in complete shock – ONE gulab jamun??? Lol.
