Chinese Tomato and Egg Stir-fry
That looks delicious.
I had most of 2 hard boiled eggs that I cooked horrible with some mayo and lemon, and a slice of sugar and maple pie. lol.
Flounder roe & fried egg.
Another breakfast sandwich - Egg over medium/medium well, leftover ham steak, and cheese on an English muffin. It got doused in Cholula before consumption.
That’s about as classic as it gets.
Toasted sesame Montreal-style bagel, half with butter and sea salt, half with melted 2 year old cheddar. Coffee.
I don’t know why, but the more I look at that picture, the more phallic it is.
You’re not alone. There was no way I could rotate the plate that made it less…evocative. And believe me, I tried.
Nice!
Weekday breakfast is usually toast or eggs or pre-made upma. Pre-pandemic, it was eaten in a rush while running in circles packing bags, yelling instructions, and trying not to step on the dogs. Ugh.
But I work mostly from home now and a rare day like yesterday (Friday) with no early meetings or deadlines meant I had time to make family favourite besan ke cheele with tomato chutney and yogurt to dip.
Tomato chutney is my homemade concoction: tadka of panch poran and red chilli powder. 2 (14oz) cans of petite diced tomatoes. Simmer on low flame till done and add salt if needed. I was multitasking with my workout and the simmer went on too long and the chutney ‘caught’ a little on the bottom but was rescued just in time.
The cheelas had besan, rice flour, spices, finely chopped spring onion, and finely chopped moringa leaves from my scraggly tree that I am growing in a pot.
It was well received though we were almost out of yogurt and late arrivals had to lick out the container.
I, being the cheela-chef, almost didn’t snap a picture except got one at the very end.
oh yum!! i’ve only made jook a couple of times but only with chicken thigh meat. that sounds sooo good.
from a few days ago… i’m obsessed with TJs “baby” cauliflower. steamed here then sauteed with a bunch of leftover odds and ends, including a bunch of grated parm. and the obligatory runny egg, of course.
