What's for breakfast (aka what's going to happen exciting today)?

I am married to someone with a sweet tooth, and alas, I don’t usually have much of one. I try to indulge some Sunday mornings. There were some apples softening and getting ready to be tossed, so into an apple cake they went. The recipe was from Food52, called Raw Apple Cake, aka Ugly Brown Apple Cake. I followed the recipe pretty much but was nervous that it wouldn’t have enough leavening so stuck in a teaspoon of baking powder. It gives a choice of oil or butter so I went with melted butter, and stuck in a little nutmeg for good measure. It was very good, but it called for four cups of apple, or about seven apples. I went a little over four cups using just four macs. Next time I’ll add in a couple more apples because, in my book, you can never have too much fruit in a dessert.

Very cool–in the vernacular of the '60s.

DH brought me back a steamed bbq pork bun from DC Chinatown. So 3/4 of that was for breakfast with dipping sauce and a large coffee.

Made a hash on the stovetop griddle with last nights leftovers … topped with over easy eggs, it was really good.

:joy:hah!

I love a savory breakfast!

Savory is good.

This morning I’m having French feta, with cubed yellow and red beets with a drizzle of a fruity olive oil

Why stop at dinner … a continuation of last nights gluttony
The sausage though was Habbersett turkey sausage, it had a nice
spicy bite and was better than expected.
Why is it that these hideous plates refuse to be broken by me, I only have
to look at my nice plates to get them to shatter

Sunday morning. Good time to spend a few extra minutes in the kitchen

Big container of mushrooms in the fridge from Costco led to a mushroom omelette. Shavings of an aged Gouda to round it out

All those photos look amazing. Lucky to have them close by.

You’re omelet looks amazing, I can almost taste it, the photo captures the perfect texture. I need to find a really good omelet pan.

I’m not sure what you are referring to, we were eating in our dining room in photos. I did buy the stainless steel platters from a restaurant supply website, one of my all time favorite purchases.
