What's for breakfast? (2024)

If I started making my own marzipan croissants, I’d gain all the weight back that I’ve lost . I eat these maybe once a month or so, so the cost is not a concern. Thanks for the recipe though

Our penultimate Berlin breakfast that also served somewhat as a fridge cleanout: a 5-egg scramble with frozen dill & fresh parsley, spicy salami & fennel salami, smoked salmon & butterfish with sharp Bavarian horseradish, Taleggio, Italian soft goat cheese (can’t remember the name now), Deichkäse, and our favorite sourdough. Milk & OJ to go with, bc it’s too early to start in on the 2.5 wine bottles left :joy:

Man I am going to miss these something fierce :sob:

Yep. They’re a once-a-year treat here. Dangerously good.

Last brekkie in our Berlin pad calls for an extra-decadent treat.

Hey, I had to finish the jar! :yum:

Inspired by Joanne Chang’s Flour Bakery’s breakfast sandwich: baked eggs on toasted buns with bacon and cheese. I added a little chopped scallion greens to the eggs and used premade hamburger buns.

I love the baked eggs, and am happy to have the left overs - they will be put to good use. I will try this dish again on homemade rolls when time allows.

We love this sandwich from Flour! I have perfected the egg bake portion and use it even without the rest (delicious) toppings.

I can see adding all kinds of things (herbs, cheeses, smoked meats, etc.) to the eggs. Very glad to have have the water-bath trick up my sleeve.

Agreed! Last time sans bread, we topped with roasted red peppers and feta.

As asparagus season ends, I was compelled to repeat Melissa Clark’s fabulous and seasonal bread pudding. This is a half-recipe in a one-quart baker. Served with breakfast sausages from Uli’s.

I had 2 slices of Apple Fritter Bread. My loaf was purchased on my roadtrip to Kingsville, ON. It was pretty close to our family’s apple cake.
This is the loaf I bought.

Here’s a recipe for another Apple Fritter Bread.

Followed by many white peaches. I pared and sliced 2 lbs last night because they were bruised and quite ripe. I finished the bowl, so I’m guessing I’ve had my 5 servings of fruit and veg today. :joy:

Earlier this week I made extra eggs, bacon, and sausage. Today’s breakfast sandwich was simply a matter of making toast and assembling. I like the French bread here better than the hamburger bun, and yes, those eggs do definitely get more delicious after setting up a day or two.
