Everyday EVOO…

That’s a good price on the COR 100%. Go with that.

Sometimes it’s all my store has if I’m wanting the COR brand. And if I need it, I need it. Don’t always have time to check out other stores to see if they have the 100%.

There were so many scandals about European olive oils over the years, mostly Italian IIRC & how they were all mixed together… I do prefer single origin. Which is why I love that nasty kalamata oil

I’ve been alternating by trying different Portuguese, Greek and Italian oils in glass bottles that are usually 500 ml- 750 ml and around $8-$12.

I use olive oil almost daily, and I end up using the same one- whether it’s fruity , fancy or whatever else, for everything until I finish the bottle.

If I’m buying a 2 l tin or plastic bottle, I buy the Greek one, whatever brand that is.

My go-to is the COR Arbequina. My local Amazon Fresh carries it, and with their regular 20 or 25% off coupon offers, I’m paying roughly the same as their cheaper blends at other stores.

Same. I always roll my eyes at recipes that call for “your best olive oil.” My best olive oil is also my worst olive oil.

Depends on your pocketbook whether it qualifies as “everyday” oil, but I can’t be more enthusiastic about the oils and vinegars from Amphora Nueva. They ship, but if you live near one you can bring clean dry bottle in for refills.

Not really as that is a 500ML bottle.

All prices are going up. If the 1.4L bottles of Global are $19 at Wegmans, as I noted above, for 100%, this is better than I’ve seen anywhere else.
:woman_shrugging: I’ll have to check pricing at MB and Hannaford next time I’m in both stores.

$!3.99 for a 500ML bottle of 100% CA is not only more expensive than direct from the COR site, you can get a 750ML bottle for the same $13.99 at Walmart online.

Better price by $.50. Add in shipping costs ($11.59 for UPS Ground for me), and I’m at $22.38, and have to wait 5-7 days.

Sometimes the convenience of getting what you want, WHEN you want and/or need it is worth a bit more, don’t you think?

WalMart online offers free 2-3 day shipping on all $35+ orders, so $14 for 750ML means a 33% savings. $14 for 500ML is an “average/MSRP” for this oil.

Since the pandemic, I’ve learned to order what I’ll need before I need it.

Years ago, the woman I babysat for (two very tough charges—I really was desperate for the $) would give out bottles of olive oils for the holidays. At the time I wasn’t a connoisseur. I’d pass it on to dad who made the BEST aglio e olio. He was the judge of olive oils, patés and wines.

I never run out as I’m an inveterate list maker. Have been for 45+ years since I’ve been out on my own.

But some us don’t want to shop at Walmart for various reasons. If it works for you, great.

And now I’m stuck with the hoarder stash of having done that way too much. Eeek.

I started donating it to the food bank.

Definitely a good idea! The expired stuff, however (well, past “best by”) has to be dumpstered. Many times, it’s still perfectly good - the dates are set by the producers for optimum quality - but the food is still perfectly safe to consume.

We import our own olive oil from Greece & its excellent so i use that. However, i would offer that different olives produce oils of different flavors & acidities (sp?). Most oils you can buy dont tell you what kind of olive its made from but if there’s an oil you particularly like try to find out what kind of olives its pressed from. This can help you with future buying decisions. I personally prefer olive oil with a bold flavor & a fairly high acidity. Your palates may vary.

But i did like this one . And the can is so cool . And my every day cooking oil in the background.
