Welcome to the nomination thread for COTMs for the first quarter of 2026!
Over recent quarters, we have tried to create an inclusive environment of books and blogs that encompass both everyday cooking and project / stretch cooking for those who enjoyed the challenge of the original COTM, with options for online and library access where possible.
Please type nominations in ALL CAPS, and use regular capitalization to discuss, rather than nominate.
You may nominate as many sources as you like but please nominate with the intention of cooking along should your nominee be selected.
As we are running a bit late, nominations will close SUNDAY DECEMBER 28, followed by voting if needed (if there are popular clustered nominations, we may not need a vote, as in some recent quarters).
To the extent people are busy with the holidays and there isn’t enough traction right now, we may extend this quarter’s books into January, and revisit nominations for new sources then.
We had an Ina/Barefoot Contessa COTM, I am going to guess at the beginning of this year but I can’t look it up right now. Would love to see reports on that thread!
Sami Tamimi put out a new book last July, Boustany, on Palestinian vegetable cookery. That could be combined with his previous, excellent, Falastin for a SAMI TAMIMI MONTH. We could also include the earlier Ottolenghi books on which he was a co-author if folks want.
Jerusalem would certainly fit with the other two. I looked over a library copy of Boustany, and there was a lot I’d like to cook, and I’m a fan of all these books. SAMI TAMIMI MONTH.
Just to clarify for everyone, Tamimi was a co-author on Jerusalem and Ottolenghi (very first book). So just those two would be included along with his two solo books.
Okay folks, we think we should extend this quarter’s books into January and revisit nominations for new sources then, when everyone has a bit more time.
