I’ve always been kinda partial to Braun stick blenders. If you’e on a budget and don’t need a lot of accessories, the MultiQuick 5 can be had for under fifty bucks.
I’ll second Scott’s recommendation. I’ve been using the same Braun stick for over 25 years. It came with a 2-cup mini food processor bowl, too. The stem the blade rode on in the bowl bit the dust years ago, but the blender itself is still going strong.
My first was a Braun, and it really lasted. Still a good product, huh? Might be the right fit again.
Thanks for reminding me. I’ll look into the MultiQuick, though.
Much appreciated!
I have had a Braun and been very happy with it’s performance.
It finally gave out on me after over 20 years of use.
Most recently, I received a KitchenAid one as a package deal. In essence, a bonus gift and also very pleased with it.
CURRENT BRAUN MODELS… ONE POSSIBLE CAVEAT:
My current Braun blender (and it’s predecessor) both had plastic bottoms, which means they had little chance of scratching non-stick cookware if held to the bottom of the pan.
It appears the current models are stainless steel (although I am not sure about this - it might be chrome plated plastic). If indeed it IS metal, beware holding it against the bottom of a non-stick pot as it may scratch the coating… and if this is indeed the case, better to look for a unit whose bottom is plastic.
I like Braun as a brand. But I’ve never had a Bamix crap out on me.
I wore a Braun out, loved it! Replaced with a Cuisinart which is ok, but wish I’d sprung for a Bamix. Probably won’t upgrade, since I don’t use it like I once did, but who knows?
Agree about Bamix, though I’ve only recently acquired mine.
How about trying a thrift shop. Or one of the local selling platforms like Offer up or Craigslist. If you’re patient, and flexible on the make and model, you’ll probably find one second hand, which gives me extra pleasure, though to some personalities it gives heebyjeebies.
It also occurred to me you might consider second hand. Since my spouse alsodoesn’t tolerate clutter, but loves to buy new things, I am often contemplating giving away small kitchen appliances.
I believe I mostly use a De’Longhi but also have a Kitchenaid that belongs to one of my adult children. They both work fine for the simple tasks I use them for.
ETA I just learned Italy’s delonghi bought Braun brand license -2012.
Just replaced my small Oester toaster oven after 7 years.
New one is slight upgrade–and I don’t have to relearn anything.
These look like they have spiked metal feet… is that indeed the case?
I cannot believe that no one else has a can opener on their countertop!
That and the microwave are daily, as is the other microwave on the stand. The toaster oven on top of it, and the blender on the counter, maybe a couple of times a week each. The vegetable steamer is in the cabinet and gets used every few weeks.
Yes.
Old man Tim said he used his Bamix in tin lined copper without problems. Is it also your case ?
So no good in non-stick cookware?
Gingerly.
It’s OK if you don’t apply pressure against the plastic.
Got this delivered yesterday late afternoon. Unpacked it. Pulled it out. Grabbed the one I’ve had for 7 years–stuck it in same box–threw into the dumpster.
Placed the new one in the empty space, added in the parts, plugged it in–and verified it worked.
Today, did breakfast–made toast twice–perfect the first time.
Fifteen years ago, I had a small 4 slice oven–and a beloved toaster. Used the oven for reheating. When the toaster finally died, I went for a four slice toaster oven–that didn’t either toast or reheat. My Oster “convection” 6 slice did both–and I no longer used or needed a toaster.
It doesn’t always get worse.
I didn’t consider the “air fryer” version . . . .
I find the electric ones inferior to the twister in my drawer. My wife isn’t have an electric on display. Just not her way. Took me this long to leave the blender out.
I think the larger toaster oven , with convection, is one of my best purchases. Bread, cornbread, finishing steaks, etc. It’s been the perfect appliance. DANG handy around the holidays, too. I shan’t live without one. Anyone can see my two most important appliances on the counter b/c those were what I lobbied for.
