Where to buy dried porcini mushrooms?

I live in Philadelphia, and I can buy some for $7/oz from Di Bruno Bros., but this seems like a product that might be optimally purchased online.

I know Trader Joe’s has some occasionally, but I haven’t seen them there in a while.

More broadly, if people have online dried mushroom sources they like, I’d like to hear them. Thanks!

I know PA has lots of Wegmans, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them there. Cannot recall the pricing/unit cost, however.

Olive Nation has a decent array. I generally buy these:

8oz is like a half-gallon or 1-quart+ bag.

I’m unfamiliar with Philadelphia, but my favorite place to get dried mushrooms is a Polish market. Ask for “borowiki” which are Boletus edulis, same as porcini but more fragrant because of the soil they grow in. They are insanely popular among Poles, so they tend to be very fresh. Philadelphia has a relatively large Polish community, so I’m sure there are several markets in the area.

My aunt, who lives far from any Polish market, has been pleased with these from Amazon.

FWIW: I ordered from Olive Nation a while back, and they sent me some coupons with 15-20% discount codes, good for another few days. PM me if interested (oddly, they don’t mainly do olive stuff, so go figure, but lots of pantry ingredients–mushrooms, chocolate, etc.).

Tons of stores online. Biggest issue for me is age of the crop. I was in Florence once in late November and they were just drying the harvest. I bought 300 grams (dried) that they vacuum sealed for me on the spot. Lasted a year and they were excellent. Finding a vendor that you trust is worth it.
