Just watched the Fung Bros’ video about Lao and Issan food. It all looks so good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQzf14T91rY
Anywhere I can find it in the Bay Area? Thanks.

For Lao food, Champa Garden in Oakland and SF. There is also Vientian Cafe in Oakland but I haven’t tried it. Tycoon Thai in the Tenderloin also is good and has some Lao dishes on their menu.

I haven’t had a chance to try it, but there’s “Famous Lao Papaya” in San Jose.

They used to have BBQ as well, but I don’t see it on the current menu.
That was nice. I’m living larb right now.

Here are a few, including Larb in El Cerrito @wildtomato mentioned above:
This video plea from the owners of Larb Thai Food and Tapas reminded me, yet again, of how small restaurants are getting walloped by this crisis.
We placed an order yesterday, and I think everyone in the community who loves this place had the same idea, but I was happy to wait for my order. I hope they can make it.
James Syhabout’s Hawking Bird gets all the press these days. The good ol’ Hawker Fare seems to need some love that it deserves. Their Yelp rating is atrocious for the kind of food that they put out. Summary: Good meal. Balanced and restrained spicing. Wonderful made-from scratch sauces that stood out from the competition (that I promptly saved for later meals).

As mentioned by @Souperman in the Thai Tenderloin Takeover thread , Esan Classic, an Isaan/Northeastern Thai themed restaurant from the Lers Ros folks, has opened. It’s on Larkin near O’Farrell, almost across the street from the original Lers Ros.
I had a lunch here. I’m pretty much clueless about Isaan cuisine, so I asked my waitress to recommend something typically Northern, and she suggested the #16, prik khing pla dook fu, which is described on the menu as stir-fried crispy catfish with chi…
I hope they are still open!
My friend Intu has been popping up at Birba Wine Bar in SF. She’s from Isan, and her food is spectacular.
In addition to Esan Classic, all the Lers Ros locations (same owners as EC) have plenty of Isan dishes on the menu.
