What's for lunch (2026)

Nice! I haven’t made olive bread in forever… maybe this weekend.

I did a very fine chop rather than pieces as for that style roll , it needs to be rolled into a rope.

I am now working in a frigidly cold office wishing that I had brought 12 extra sweaters, a blanket and a sleeping bag. In the meantime, I am having a potato, red pepper, green bean salad, pretending it’s spring. It’s not working very well :frowning: But lunch was good.

Eggs for lunch today on thinly sliced Challah bread and I wish I had dessert!

That’s a beautifully composed plate. Love the bright, sunny colors

WTF did your office turn off the heat? Raise hell!

I’m not sure. I’ve been working in the same office building for the last 11 years and it’s never been this cold. It’s usually a little cool in here on Monday mornings because they turn the heat down over the weekend but it’s Thursday and they’ve had plenty of time to warm it up in here. I thought of calling someone to turn the heat up but we have a 29 storey office building and by the time it warms up in here it will be time to go home… Tomorrow is a work from home day so I can curl up on the sofa with my laptop and cuppa tea and not have to go out in the frigid cold. I’m just counting the time right now…

I bet! Maybe a hot tea or coffee to keep ya toasty till you can get out of there?

I just fired up the kettle and I have a hot thermos of tea at my desk right as we speak

We’re trying to keep the heat down more during the day after last month’s horrendous heating bill, so I also needed something to warm me up for lunch: a nice bowl of leftover chowdah, this time only topped with scallions. Too lazy to make bacon. I added a few droplets of this bomb hot sauce to kick it up a bit more

Nice, if not better than the night I made it. Might hafta get seconds… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

A 70th BDay lunch for one of my sisters at our fave Greek joint in the burbs today(Floga)
I had the Kokkinisto- braised veal shoulder in a rich, fragrant, tomato gravy served with orzo. Delicious and tender and a huge portion, took half home. There was also Saganaki(OPA!) and good pita and garlic bread, baklava and ravani for dessert. A good time was had by all..

I made some gyoza yesterday and cooked some today for lunch, along with buchujeon / garlic chive pancake with the leftover garlic chives from making gyoza.

That would be helpful. I think I have one of those rubberlike hot water bottles at home that you fill with hot water. I should try and find it then leave it in my locker at work.

A good friend is in town from PGH & wanted to meet up for lunch. Where else but take him to our favorite taco purveyor? My PIC and I split a flight (Cajun shrimp, pork, brisket tinga — all fan-fucking-tastic as usual) & grabbed a porkadilla to take home for our dinner tonight.

A new disciple was born  He especially loved my reco for the 5-spice Asian beef taco, and his buddy loved it as well

Not many things make me happier than introducing good friends to good food.
