“Canadian bacon “ you mean ham??? ![]()
Don’t ask the German about American meat products ![]()
Looks a lot like ham to me, too, though ![]()
I am going to throw my toque in the ring and correct both of you! Peameal bacon is the correct term for what @linguafood had. #mycanadianisshowing
Burger or mac-and-cheese? Why not both? Medium-rare TJ’s chuck and brisket patty, Annie’s Aged Cheddar shells.
Peameal bacon is rolled in cornmeal, a better term for what @linguafood had is back bacon.
I think you’re on to something here. The world has already welcomed mac & cheese pancakes, mac & cheese omelettes and mac & cheese grilled cheese.
And last month I made a mac-and-cheese frittata. In fact, that was my motivation here, to have leftovers for a breakfast frittata tomorrow. I’d intended to save some of the burger, but it was too good.
Is “cured meat product” acceptable? ![]()
It doesn’t have the same ring to it as peameal bacon ![]()
In all honesty I am going to have to get used to hearing “Canadian bacon” here since that is what it is referred to in the US. But that’s a me problem.
Imagine how I feel about what goes for pumpernickel around these parts! ![]()
“Canadian bacon” is just a made up marketing ploy to fool the American consumer ![]()

My favorite! Makes the bicycle kick a breeze ![]()
I hosted my sister & niece for a brief lunch-time stop by - soup & sandwich plus dessert. This substantial sausage orzo Italian soup substituting a can of white kidney beans / cannellini and a cup of peas in place of the carrots. Open face deli turkey & provolone cheese half sandwiches, with optional lettuce and grape tomatoes. Dessert was lemon loaf cake, baked in the bread machine, with strawberries. Mounds of squirted Redi-Whip added recklessly by each diner.
The reckless part is key!! All sounds delicious!
