What's for lunch (2026)

That dinner roll actually looks very good! Actually the whole sandwich looks good.

It’s a new template for me: processed meat, and egg folded over a slice of havarti, omelet-style. dijonnaise. I’ve made it with the prosciutto, pastrami, and the old NYC classic, bacon. The pastrami worked best.

I love soft-ripened cheese in omelets! I use fromagiere d’affinois, mostly.

Agreed! I made one with Delice de Bourgogne last week :face_savoring_food:!

Philly cheesesteak pizza. Inspired by this recipe. Mine used grocery deli pizza dough ball, deli sliced roast beef, a bag of frozen peppers & onions (sauteed), a can of sliced mushrooms, cheddar cheese for the initial par bake of the crust and 3-cheese Mexican and some Mozz for topping of the meat/peppers/onion. No other sauces - just meat/veggies/cheese.

This makes a substantial, hefty dish. We had half for lunch today and the rest will be lunch tomorrow. Fresh apple slices on the side, just to have something chilled with the hot pizza.

After an energetic leg workout we’d earned a substantial lunch, for which we met up with a good fried at a Georgian café.

My PIC chose the pelmeni soup (I practically insisted),

our friend the equally fab beef & spinach soup,

and I the borscht, which I’d not had there.

Their soups are some of the best in the area, but the borscht was a bit of a let-down — skimpy on the beef, not very beety…. the other two soups were much better, but thankfully my PIC was willing to share with me

We also split the cheese & spinach bureki, whereas our friend had the chicken version.
