What's for lunch? (2025)

The cheese store I shop at recently had pre-sliced raclette cheese and the first thought that went through my head is “when am I going to make raclette?!?” This is an excellent idea!

It’s so wonderfully stinky & melty. I’ve never made actual raclette before. This cheese is even great not melted :face_savoring_food:

I have one of those containers in my freezer  Technically the label is still on it but the ink is blurred so the contents are a mystery to me. I opened it last night and it may or may not be aloo gobi. I may have a mystery dinner on my menu plan for next week

It may have been from February 2025 when you posted on What’s For Dinner? The nice thing about mentioning dishes here on H.O. is the built in (if incomplete) meal-tracker.

Right? Even though my PIC can’t believe I remember meals, dishes, and other food-related experiences I’ve had several decades ago, I sometimes blank on the relatively recent stuff.

And don’t get me started on shows or movies, bc they disappear from my mind the moment the credits start to roll

That’s why I’ve also really come to appreciate the weekly menu planning thread when I’m drawing a blank on my food plans — I can check to see what I meant to make

That’s exactly it! I just didn’t/couldn’t see the barley in the frozen block of veggies and liquid. I knew I wouldn’t have frozen it if I didn’t like it, so I just took a chance on it. But it was definitely more than “a couple of months” so that container’s been in there for awhile! LOL

Lunch today was a Brussels sprouts red cabbage salad with goat cheese and walnuts. I had a couple of clementines and a couple of oatmeal cookies for dessert. I like oatmeal.

The last of the stir-fried rice. The gift that kept on giving…. until TODAY :slightly_smiling_face:

I got a call from Neighbor #2 – she threw her back out. Chef Dan to the rescue!! Luckily I had some Gnocchi in the freezer, so that became her lunch.

And I made Sunshine some oatmeal for lunch

You’re such a good cookie, Dan!

Thanks!! I just have to pivot dinner plans (slightly), something normal for Neighbor #2 and something soft for Sunshine.

I usually do a beef-barley-veg soup. Went with the chicken for healthy reasons, and it was very good! Need to make more, as I think that was the last of it.

An easy, fast & delish lunch of one ginormous KOS, started off in a bit of ghee, shprinkled with Maldon salt, then covered to steam in its own juices for a while. Added a pat of butter, a splash of soy sauce & fresh ‘German’ parsley. Finished with just a drop of pom balsamic for a nice, tart pop :face_savoring_food:

What’s a KOS?

King oyster (mu)shroom

Another handy acronym brought to you by, well, me. Who has the time to type the whole thing, it being Thanksgiving eve???
