What's for lunch? (2025)

I had a light lunch today in anticipation of nibbling in front of the tv tonight since it’s Grey Cup Sunday. This football game is even bigger than Christmas at Casa Diva. After my drawing class ended at 1:00 today I headed over to the nearby market and stopped by the Thai stand in the food court area since their chicken skewers seem to be popular. I ordered one as well as one shrimp egg roll and one pork dumpling/egg roll (not sure which it is - I just pointed at them and said “I’ll have one of those please”). The chicken skewer was very good. The sauce tasted like bbq sauce that one would put on ribs and had a nice heat to it - no sweetness at all which is the type of sauce I prefer - all heat and no sweet! The shrimp roll was okay but I didn’t like the pork one at all since it was devoid of flavor.

Chicken thigh cooked with Alubia beans, carrots, shallot, zucchini, tomatoes, chives, white wine.
. A little Espelette pepper and evoo on the thigh.
Panna cotta, raspberry jam, raspberries.

Adapted from the the NYT Za’atar and Labneh recipe which I followed the first time.
This is the second and an altered version. I found the original recipe, for my taste, to be lacking black pepper and I sorely missed cheese. So both were added to this linguine version and I found it most pleasing! I used a Lebanese style za’atar and a little bit more sumac. I also presoaked the linguini and added it directly to the pot with the lightly sautéed garlic and evoo, and water to just barely cover. This cooked rapidly as a result of the pre soaking.

Loose leaf lettuce salad, vinaigrette, pomegranate arils.

A mid-late afternoon lunch of MOAR leftover spicy stir-fry and lotsa veg, since I have an early show & generally don’t eat at the venue.

There may have been a slice of sausage in there as well :face_savoring_food:

Lunch was paté, cheese, olives and Ryvita. I had two dolmades too but I scarfed them down before taking the picture.

Why, it’s Taco Thursday!! Can’t get our usual Cajun shrimp taco fix mañana due to a doctor’s appointment.

Brisket tinga, roast pork, Thai bbq chicken.

Brisket was a bit on the dry side today, but the lardy pork and peanutty chicken made up for it. Positively stuffed :face_savoring_food:

3 delicious days in San Sebastian, Spain this week and the only thing I managed to wait long enough to take a pic was my FAVE Tortilla and a daytime Vermut :heart_eyes:
