Midye WFL. Finally, one of our favorite Turkish restaurants had them ready around lunch time. Well, our lunchtime, which today was around 3pm
Philly roast pork sammich with spicy rapini and provolone from a favorite butcher shop out in the burbs.
Sopping wet and delicious

Today we had…
Sliced breast of chicken sandwich,TJ’s Irish garlic chips.
Meringues with cocoa, espresso and cinnamon.
I went to the Korean grocer today to pick up a take out lunch and lo and behold they had pork bone soup - my favourite! So I scooped up a bowl, took it to the cash to pay and came THIS CLOSE to hugging the cashier Needless to say I enjoyed evey morsel.
Slightly charred nachos, because one minute under the broiler is not enough, but two is apparently too many!
Lunch for me and BF for the week: a white chili of ground chicken, pinto and navy beans, Anaheim and serrano chiles, tomatillos, onion, garlic, cumin, and Mexican oregano.
Hmm. Leftover pizza dough, leftover diced tomatoes, leftover hard boiled eggs…breakfast pizza! With breakfast sausages. I sliced the eggs and arranged them under the tomato. I wasn’t sure how that would work out, but it was delicious. From the oven:
And on the plate:
I picked up a 3 pound chunk of boneless ham on clearance for $3.85. It was inside one of those odd shaped tin cans. I cut it up into 3 - 1 pound chunks, froze two of them and shredded the last one. I also shredded some cheese. Prior to that I made up some bread/pizza dough as I thought maybe some ham and cheese pinwheels would be good?? Sunshine grabbed one for lunch and really enjoyed it. I figure they can be a dinner or a lunch. I’ll freeze them after they cool down.
Very creative and they look pretty!
Thank you…
Yes… I was trying to do something different that would stretch that pound of ham into a couple of meals.
You need to write a cookbook or a blog! You come up with so many good thrifty ideas.
Thank you…
Yes… I try to stay on budget and also provide some variety.
I guess I just look at what I have and try to come up with a way of combining those items into a meal.
A double smashburger with extra grilled jalapeños split between my PIC and me,
our buddy got a single smashburger (hold the cheese) and the metric tonne of fries on the side. The burgers are probably the best in town, at least this style.
The fries are also pretty perfect, but I wish we’d had the wherewithal to order some sauces. Couldn’t finish the fries between the 3 of us.
No CATSUP over there!!!
So… you generally order at a machine and pay with a CC, but all the burgers on the display had cheese on them. Our friend ordered at the counter with a living person, but forgot to order any sauces with the fries (we didn’t order any fries bc it’s TPSTOF bro).
They don’t take cash, and I wasn’t going to order mayo and ketchup for 0.80€ each on a CC.
's ok. Next time. No doubt we’ll be back
D’oh!!
