Still didn’t get our favorite sourdough, even tho the bakery’s IG bio claimed they were set up at the bi-weekly Turkish market we went to specifically to get bread… but at least we were near the stores where I was picking up my gal pals’ orders (tights, a scarf, earrings) today. We had a lovely lunch of midye dolma, i.e. Turkish mussels stuffed with seasoned rice, then a late afternoon sun-downer at the beer garden in the park across from our pad.
Dinner was at an Italian restaurant we used to go to a lot during our sabbatical 18 years ago, and it was nice to see that they are still very good, all these years later. The caponata di melanzane was excellent,
the burrata crema with green asparagus had a touch of lemon (zest? oil?) that was nice, but a few of the asparagus stalks could’ve been peeled better.
We shared a Normanduja pizza, which is exactly what it sounds like: eggplant, ‘nduja, ricotta. Fabulous crust (look, @digga: no bones!) Took about a third of it home
A nice rosé to go with.
