What's for lunch? (2025)

WPP has no update. It’s bad. Could be 1-2 days. Great timing!

Yesterday’s lunch on the way back to Toronto.
started off with a Campari and soda with some warm nuts, lunch was "honey, ginger, sesame chicken ,Shandong flat noodles, carrots, bok choy(not a single bok in sight) and edamame, carrot cake and salad with the ever obligatory balsamic dressing(why can’t airline caterers mix things up a bit??)
Meal was decent enough for airplane food, no sriracha or chili crisp offered for the entree which def would have helped.

A chopped up spring onion, some chopped up green beans, some tiny prawns and a bit of cooked brown basmati rice, sauteed in butter with lots of freshly ground black pepper.

Slice of pepperoni from the place downstairs. Appropriate thin crust NON-Greek pizza, no char on the bottom (but still has a bit of crispy chew)

A very late and therefore extra scrumptious lunch of toasted homadama & deviled egg salad with fresh herbs (scallions, dill, parsley) and smoked hot pepper.

Still warm rotisserie chicken on sesame baguette, mayo, hot mustard and chopped romaine.
Half of a delicious maple/pecan butter tart :yum:

Our Friday taco fix. We learned that the owner will be moving to OR in early July bc his :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: ex moved there with the kids. Major bummer, man.

Hopefully, we’ll get in one more meal before he leaves. It’s a colossal loss to our little town — he made some of the best food around.

He wouldn’t perchance be moving to my little corner of the state?

Portland, and so far he has no plans to sling tacos or any other food while there (he also runs a catering biz).

Shucks.

Tomato sandwich that hit the spot.

Chicken Mendi, from Halal King Kitchen, probably the only Yemeni food place housed in a gas station convenience mart, in Richmond, CA. Succulent and tender, with a little tub of toum.

ETA: Here’s Luke Tsai’s article about it–I’ve posted the link before.
