I wanted to do a little ‘last minute’ sandal shopping (hard to believe we only have two weeks left here ), which required us to head west… and which also happens to be in the direction of the Italian market. Besides the ginormous array of products and a salumi & formaggi counter, it also has a lovely trattoria with a small patio that is very popular for lunch.
The Vitello Tonnato sounded tempting, but we also wanted the lasagna, so we decided to “go light” & share the vegetarian antipasti instead
The lasagna al ragù was absolute perfection, and we managed to snarf it all up
whereas most of the cheese & about half of the veg came home with us. We also picked up another bottle of Zibibbo, a lovely Calabrian rosato, a mozza di bufala, and more of those Sicilian tomatoes
I’m not used to such a heavy lunch, so I may have to take a siesta now
