Looks like the 2nd photo didn’t upload properly
i hadn’t either! really good.
at my request, BF made a burger salad, with super lean ground beef (never again!), and a 1000 Island dressing i found but asked him to sub low-fat yogurt for the mayo - that worked! turned out excellent. He did all the prep work and I cooked my burger to MR. Very satisfying salad except next time i’d use fattier beef and just use less.
Thanks - fixed! I must have added a duplicate somehow.
What a beautiful tomato!
Another sandwich tonight. Chicken cutlet, fresh Mozz, tomato, red onion, Balsamic vinaigrette.
Another martini rocks. Those olives.
Some of the prettier junk I’ve seen!
Pizza from our favorite purveyor, a proper trattoria run by Neapolitan punks.
Picantissima with spicy salami, peperoncini, aged provolone & extra spinach; Golosa with speck, peppers, zucchini, spicy salami, and extra funghi & spinach. Perfect crust, perfect sauce:topping:cheese ratio. Perfection. They have a nice chile oil to add some eat, too.
Molto bene!
This one Greek greengrocer at my local market in London, Ontario sources the best beefsteak tomatoes in the summer. They’re usually better than the ones I grow or the ones sold at farmers’ markets. She’s been charging $2.99 Cdn per lb this summer, when the chain grocery stores are charging $1.69 - $2.29 Cdn/lb for beefsteaks and field tomatoes, but I think her tomatoes are worth it!
Well, I think I know what I want for dinner tonight. Thanks. LOL.
The colors are fabulous on both red and orange!
I haven’t been posting much these days since dinner has been mostly repeats of old favourites. Last night I made ham fried rice which is a favourite I haven’t had in ages. It might not look very pretty but it is really tasty.
It’s SO good. I’m dining solo tonight and am elated that there is one teenie-tiny slice I didn’t hoover up almost immediately after arriving home last night.
And that lush patio/deck scene!
Last full day and eats in Montreal July/14/23
Dinner at Nora Grey, another fantastic meal, service and music. Sat at the bar and was treated like a champ by the lovely and talented bartender. Highly recommend.
Started the evening with a delicious and refreshing cocktail, the “La Colomba” tequila/curacao/grapefruit juice/lime/prosecco. So good and I’m not a huge fan of tequila.
Antipasti
Homemade focaccia/pepperoncini/Pacina olive oil. Excellent
Had their summer salad but the photo was terrible, but the salad was just what I needed.
Primi
Garganelli pasta/guinea fowl meatballs/baby kale/cheese Maybe one of the best pastas I’ve ever had in my life.
Secondi
Grilled sweetbreads/canellini beans/spinach I’ll never not order sweetbreads when I see them on a menu, and these didn’t disappoint. Yum!!
Dolci
Hazelnut semifreddo/macerated haskap berries A perfect ending to a great meal.
There was also a couple of glasses of perfectly matched red wines with dinner.
Some random lunches and snacks consumed during my stay.
Schwartz’s FTW! And I have to ask - are those bagels from St. Viateur or Fairmont?
St. Viateur, and it was totally by chance that I happened to be in the neighborhood. I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Montreal style bagels, but how could I not pick some up to bring home?
Schwartz’s is still good, but not as good as they used to be, and no pickle on the side I went real early,10:30-ish to avoid the ridiculous line ups, which aren’t worth it tbh. I used to love “The Main” across the street, but sadly it’s no more.
