Chanterelles, aka the reason I think I might not have a palm print anymore. Because I grabbed hold of the pan handle after it had been in the oven. #slowlearner

Oh No! I hate when that happens! Feel better

Thanks! No permanent damage. 90:00 of icing and I’m mostly fine. Palm is disturbingly smooth, though.

The older kid , who doesn’t have the most kitchen experience, is gaining some by making a weekly dinner. Today was bahn mi. Other than the bread wasn’t quite right, he knocked it out of the park.

Thanks! I’m fine, now. But man, that did not feel good at all!

That’s asparagus for me. My ditch fills up every year, and I eat myself sick. I love it raw or cooked, so I just gorge on 'em.

I adore tomatoes from the garden. That’s why BLT is also something I’ll eat myself sick on. Once the garden tomatoes are gone, I eat very few BLTs.

This entire meal sounds heavenly and looks amazing!

BTDT. Hate the constant throbbing, even after icing.

Hope it feels better soon!

Have you called any local rescue groups (or checked their Facebook pages) to see if they are fostering any cats that might make suitable partners for Finn? I know the ones near me are overrun with fur babies of all ages right now, and foster parents will have a better sense of a cat’s personality/interactions with other cats than a shelter probably would. Just a thought - I hope you find Finn the perfect sibling soon!

I reached in to straighten the electric) oven’s liner yesterday, forgetting I had just turned the oven on. Right under forearm now bares a big sickle shaped burn. Owee indeed! What was I thinking?

Glad to hear. I have a bad habit of resting my arm on the edge of pots and ending up with weird burn marks on my forearm.

Thank you! Everything was outstanding.

I have. Went to see a cat that the foster Mom said he was cuddly with her. Yeah, ONLY her. A feral who had only bonded with her and wanted nothing to do with me. All of her foster cats definitely needed a lot more additional human socialization. So I’ve scratched that one off my list.

I follow various local FB rescue groups and check Petfinder regularly as well as individual rescue websites on a regular basis. Finn was a lucky get when the earlier applicant didn’t get their current cat’s vet checkup status to the humane society, and I was 2nd applicant who had gotten Alfie’s vet checkup to them, so I have no problem being a 2nd applicant in the hopes it works out for me.

Lots and lots of kittens right now, as it’s ā€œkitten seasonā€. I’m looking for a 2-8yo. So I will just keep on checking.

Yes, I’m seeing tons of kittens around here too. Fingers crossed you find the ā€œoneā€ very soon!

Dinner tonight is Grey Sole with Toasted Almonds, Capers, Sherry, and Thyme. I was inspired by the description of a Dover sole dish on Le Bernardin’s current menu. I rounded out the plate with some basmati rice and pea pilaf. For a light fish, this ate very rich!

Gah! One of the first lessons we learn out of the womb is ā€œdon’t touch hot stuff.ā€ And yet we keep forgetting,
