Tonight’s dinner was spaghettini with bok choy, red pepper and edamame.
It has become one of our favorites in this house. I hope you enjoy it if you try it! And, yes, chile oil on all the things!
I’m very sorry for your loss.
Beef, broccoli and water-chestnut stir-fry over rice.
Broccolini from the garden.
(Sorry for the messy plating.)
What a difference a day makes, 24 little hours.
I don’t think it got above 50 degrees today. Foggy and windy.
Dinner was store bought 4 cheese ravioli, Italian sausage, onion, garlic, a splash of rosso vermouth, fire roasted tomatoes, tomato sauce, rpf sauce. Finished with parm and basil. Asparagus because you can never have too much.Tomato, cucumber, red onion salad with balsamic & oo dressing, more basil. Needed wine and garlic bread, but alas I had neither.
At some point before I die, I will internalize that 60% of an artichoke is inedible and can be shaved off and discarded. But until then…
I will continue to not trim them well enough. Alas. And! It wasn’t the watercress that made my soup a couple nights ago taste like lawn. The watercress is fine.
Lately I feel like every time I post food I say, “First time in a while”. Well, here’s tonight’s dinner: first post in a while!
Seven straight days at work. Off the next two but hardly feels like it since I have both research and a lecture to get through. But that won’t stop me from tonight’s classic steak dinner: T-Bone (first time I ever cooked one at home) dusted liberally with Montreal seasoning and cracked pepper and basted with butter (no garlic-- somehow had none on hand, a travesty), a baked potato with butter AND sour cream (no doubt about that one), and steamed broccoli.
First steak post in forever. My last two were ruined by overcooking. Tonight I took no chances. 3 minutes per side. Rare it was. Absolutely delicious. Even the cat who is not doing well was clamoring for a piece.
One martini whilst cooking and another with dinner. Dined solo tonight and being the anniversary of D-Day, watched “The Longest Day”. “Saving Private Ryan” was yesterday.
Gorgeous meal . Sometimes you just need to.
Tonight was an “I needed this”. Devoured with pleasure.
That steak looks fabulous. I have the tendency to overcook mine which is why I rarely make steak at home. Sounds like the steak and martini hit the spot.
Does the Montreal seasoning, liberally dusted, not supply enough garlic and pepper flavor already? You must have a cast iron stomach!
I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope the meal was comforting. I wish you peace in your grief.
he’s been making mostly or completely meatless meals for us for about 2+ weeks now! i am as flabbergasted as you (and grateful!), believe me. He’s on board with a vengeance in helping me lower my cholesterol so i don’t have to go on meds. This is what years of gorging on butter & pork fat sandwiches will do…
that is one perfect meal, start to finish!
omg… looks fabulous! i have a big bottle of Maggi in my kitchen that I’ve been neglecting!
These Spot Prawns are sooo darn gooood!
Simply boiled in salted water. Dipping sauce of light soy sauce, fish sauce, Mirin, scallions, julienne ginger, diced red chili, sugar to taste. Finished off with sizzling oil!
Going out for (possibly) small bites and drinks, so I turned the leftover dungeness crab into a small crab salad with lemon juice, crème fraîche, a touch of Duke’s, Cajun seasoning & fresh dill. Served it on Aldi herb & sea salt crisps, but TBH it tasted better straight out of the bowl
Thank you!
Dinner last night:
I had low expectations for this meal, so I was happily surprised! Made a few small changes: used chicken breasts instead of thighs, found andouille sausage in freezer, so subbed that for the chicken sausage and added a couple potatoes. Increased the oil just a bit due to use of chick breast, and added the shrimp in last 10 minutes.
Having trouble with the link, but it’s Sheet Pan Chicken and Shrimp. Eating Well.
