Thanks!
Beautiful!
Moussaka tonight. I used half as much clove, and half as much thyme, omitted the tomato paste, the basil, the parsley and the sugar
BF made chicken fried rice with the leftover Thai chicken i made. I made more of the kimchi-style cukes, and his tomato salad on the side. Veg-heavy dinner!
Beautifully done rice. Love those separate grains!
hmm! i’ve been to TSD many times but have never tried that… that looks like a good, easy recipe to try, thanks for posting it!
Dinner was a lattice-topped, single-crusted, sausage and mushroom pot pie. Nothing to write home about, it did it’s job, but nothing more, so no photo.
Dessert was a pear galette worth a sonnet.
Cod poached with tomatoes, thyme and garlic in broth and white wine over polenta (cooked in broth made with garlic, rosemary and thyme)
If you like, I can post the recipe. Let me know.
Last night 's dinner was inspired by @mariacarmen: poached chicken breast with ginger-scallion sauce (to which I added serrano pepper), rice cooked in the seasoned poaching liquid (chicken broth, ginger, peppercorns, shallot, and garlic) after being fried in some saved schmaltz. Sesame carrot salad with cilantro on the side, along with a cup of the broth. The rice was the highlight, for sure.
Nice plating. Also appreciate the removal of the floppy skin.
These were b/s but I’m with you in spirit - just not worth the calories unless super crispy and seasoned.
Since you’re offering, I’ll accept. I’m trying not to add any more cookbooks to my collection…Thanks!
Another devoted and swoonful meal and presentation!!
“Cooking” was very limited tonight, if not non-existent.
Picked up a roasted chicken at MB. Kept it warm in a low oven while the Near East rice pilaf cooked and I opened a bag of frozen peas and added some frozen corn stripped from cobs last summer and brought that to a boil with butter and s/p.
And I opened a new bottle of wine.
It’s been quite some time since I’ve visited a Mexican grocery store/meat market. Mainly because the price of raw marinated beef fajita meat had jumped. But today I really wanted beef fajitas so stopped by and since it would sound picky to ask for 1 1/4 lb I said 1 1/2 lbs. She slapped a slab on the scale totaling 1.98 and said it’s a pound and a half. I wasn’t about to argue with her and said that’s fine. Plenty of leftovers. So this is half of the grilled out fajitas with poblanos and onions. Grilled flour tortillas too. Guacamole in a leftover Alloutte container. Hey, they come in handy. Sour cream, cilantro, jalapeño, onion, lime for him. Fresh fried corn and flour tortilla chips.
