I’d give this one two sets of silverware if I could - I love beans with greens and sausage.

Easy Monday night dinner. Grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, and “Avonaise”, which is a vegan avocado oil-based mayo that caught my eye. While texture-wise it was a homerun, the flavor was odd. The addition of oregano oil overpowered it when tasted on its own. But as part of the sandwich as a whole, it was much better. Sun chips on the side.

There was a Bombay rocks. Well, two.

Today was interesting. I went over final preparations with a friend for a lecture we’re giving on New Jersey Prohibition history, “Mobsters and Mayhem”, which is being offered twice later this month. As the class includes mocktails featuring Deep Cut Gardens-based ingredients (the Middletown, NJ property was owned by “Godfather” inspiration Vito Genovese), today I had a sampling of some of her creations which we will incorporate into three drinks. There’s a delectable lavender simple syrup, a spruce pinecone syrup (which tastes almost identical to honey and is known as “vegan honey”-- super rich and delicious), rose petal jam, and a beach plum balsamic vinegar shrub. There’s so much more, including hydrosols for both drinking and skincare. Whatever we do not use for this program we will concoct something for our December presentation “Botanicals and Booze: The History of Plants and Herbs in Liquor Production”. This was an exciting afternoon with a chance to taste so many flavors. It is not an overstatement to call this place a veritable scientific lab.

I hope you enjoy the pictures even though they are not dinner related.

I wasn’t kidding. I’m eating camping food . Those gorgeous German hot dogs I purchased north of here. Cooked on the traeger. With bush’s baked beans . I’ll plate with Cole slaw .Cheers .

I want to get back to cooking when this drama ends .

That looks so tragically phallic for some reason. :yum:

Yup. The times, they are a-changin’. And not for the better, sadly.

It truly is very sad; I am not pleased with the climate change at all.

This sounds like a lecture I’d love to see (and sample!)

Its a variation of a talk I’ve done many times. People love violence and alcohol, and this combines them both!

Today the little vixen tried to get into the liquor cabinet. Ten year old childproof cabinet catches worked! Two more days of her antics.

Wow. Meanwhile, this is one of Laszlo’s three talents:

The others are meowing and biting.

Thank you. Our favorite way to eat tuna is with shiso leaf. I happened across a plant at the garden center center and had to have it. It helps with the plating.

Well, one often begats the other.

What make/model of smoker is that?

Saucy!

Spent a lot of time out working with my mom today on some healthcare stuff and gave myself the gift of dinner waiting in the fridge to be roasted in the oven. Roasted chicken and vegetables. Not particularly summery, but was much needed comfort food. Tornatore Etna Rosso 2017 to go with. Perfect.
