I’ve gained a solid 5, if not more, since March. THAT’S IN 5 MONTHS.

i’m working out more now, but my metabolism just says eff you, we’re holding onto any food you eat.

Thank you. It at least gives me a direction. I never would have gone long peppers or red pepper corns. I was hoping you’d figured out what “gems” were included. I have a bottle of ginger syrup I brought back from Barbados this past winter that I may try as a base.

That looks amazing. Happy Birthday!

I’m guilty of the high carb, comfort food, higher sodium stuff even, a bit more wine than usual, stopped buying Tanqueray because too tempting presently. Afraid of the gym but need to get to working with the weights & doing planks. Crunches good, but not doing squats unless I pay somebody to abuse me with that :upside_down_face: Not beating myself up too much for the food indulgences - good BP & blood chems, so I’ll live with the #’s until I can work it off. The excess carbs I’ve been eating actually help to calm me, and improve sleep, so that’s a good thing…

I’m so intrigued by the gimber though & thanks. LOVE ginger & great for digestion & lots of stuff @naf.

Oh, I did buy some Tanqueray today for special reasons…

I asked H to blind taste the bottle and my mixture, he said they were nearly identical. Once you got the proportion of the 3 elements right (ginger, lemon or lime juice, and cane sugar syrup), the rest is a bit of personal preference and quite minor. I prefer lime than lemon juice.

A big Happy Birthday to you! All looks beyond amazing @mariacarmen - May you enjoy many more such celebrations, hopefully under different circumstances than this year! Please tell your BF how very impressed I am with his dinner. :birthday: :champagne::clinking_glasses:

In May, I measured and have gained 5… for a week or 2 I got rid of 4 and didn’t pay attention (or maybe I just got rid of the water and the fat settled since my balance was running out of batteries for a few weeks). When I put in new batteries yesterday, I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Exercises, gardening, less carbs, less sugar, less salt, less pizza too… I don’t sleep a lot lately, maybe one eats more in cases like this. I’m considering running too, though I don’t like doing that.

Yeah, metabolism slows down…

Tonight, with the heat, a refreshing tabbouleh with fresh and semi confit tomatoes, bell peppers, black and green olives, basil, garlic shoots, lemon juice, evoo etc.

Went back to my Friday T&T:

Steak tips with Ballymaloe steak sauce, baked tater with the PSTOB and sour cream, and green beans, on which I completely forgot the toasted almonds until I went back into the kitchen with my empty plate. DOH!

Wine as the final side dish. DUH.

So you get a DOH and a DUH in the same post.

I’m lucky that no one here will have anything to compare the Gimber to so if I like it, it will be right. I also prefer lime over lemon in just about all cases.

Very relieved to see you are more back to normal with your cooking @LindaWhit

Me too on the lime @MsBean, but I must caution you; due to an outage of our regular store brand cheap seltzer, H p/u a pack each of LaCroix - one lemon flavor, the other Key Lime, which is truly awful. LC not high on my list anyway, but I used to like some of their flavors for awhile. Evidently there’s an aluminum shortage currently, which I suspected, thus production is being scaled back. Might be a good time for us to get a Soda Stream…

Completely agree about the Lacroix! I think I’ve tried two flavors… My conclusion was that it’s like Absolut vodka—smells great, but I don’t like the taste.

Thanks for the tip. I’m lucky that I actually do have a Sodastream so I don’t have to rely on store-bought club soda. I like it a lot. However, I hear the replacement CO2s are getting hard to find. I’ve taken to flavoring the water with either lime, ginger, watermelon or cucumber of late.

@CurlzNJ I think I’ve only tried the grapefruit La Croix which I didn’t care for so I never bother trying any others.

i don’t know how old you are @naf, but my metabolism died like 10 years ago, and i’ve read and been told by doctors that while more exercise is of course good for you in so many ways, losing weight is mostly all about eating less. like, a LOT less, for me. which I don’t have the willpower to do right now when i’m home 90% of the time.

so i will exercise and do my best to stay strong and healthy, and try not to go TOO crazy with the snacking/overeating, but I’m going to enjoy my food. as we all here do!

Stir fried “green” beans and pork. Actually yellow beans from the garden, and the colors aren’t as good.
