Thank you. It only took about 27 tries to take the picture.
Thin crust “XXL” pizzas from a pretty famous joint in New Jersey. Mom wanted pizza, and I surprised her with pies from this place. Hour-round trip plus a nearly 90 minute wait on line in their parking lot. I wrote a larger description of the experience in one of the NJ threads. All that aside, pizza was great and mom was surprised.
I’ve said it before @gcaggiano - what a wonderful son you are! Your mom is a lucky woman.
@pilgrim - your meal is screaming out to me!
It all looks and sounds great @ChristinaM - hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Thanks to Maesri brand curry paste, had delicious red curry beef over steamed broccoli tonight. However, despite the fact that I know most Thai restaurants use the same paste and their curry is no better than mine, all I could think of was “this would taste SO MUCH BETTER if someone else made it for me.” LOL. Anyone else just OVER their own cooking?
We were out running errands yesterday and thought about picking up some takeout for lunch, but nearly every open restaurant we drove by had lines of cars around the parking lot/out into the street. You know you’re tired of being cooped up when a trip through the Taco Bell drive thru sounds like heaven!
Haven’t heard of the Maersi curry paste - I use Mae Ploy, based on Thai friend’s recommendations. Will have to look for the Maersi paste, either online, or when in Asian markets next.
I hear you on the home cooking…we’ve eaten very well, but just want a change. In fact, we postponed our anniversary dinner, because not in the mood for filet mignon and king crab - weird. Was in the mood for Popeye’s chicken. Settled on leftovers. Having the surf n turf tonight, H is making & things are smelling wonderful in the kitchen. Think we’ll do a run to Seattle this week for favorite Thai, just to get out of the house & break up routine.
Thank you!
@Lambchop, pull up a chair and grab a fork!
I small minced some veggies and left over pork loin. DW hacked up a portion of Romaine Lettuce. And that was dinner today.
Anniversary/Mother’s Day dinner - old school all the way! Surf and turf, with Bernaise sauce, our favorite mid-range red,
a Columbia Valley Desert Wind Ruah. Would have preferred asparagus, but no store run, just for that. All excellent - filet was fork tender, crab sublime.
Sesame seared tuna with roasted broccoli and pork and chive dumplings. A while back I bought a jar of Lao Gan Ma Hot Chili Sauce. It is essentially Spicy Chili Crisp with tofu, peanuts, and kohlrabi. Yummy.
That was nice.
Looks fabulous @MsBean! I have some of that same sauce, and mistook it for the chili crisp - agree, nearly the same.
Grilled zucchini with last of the gribiche sauce
Remaining choucroute → mock kimchee pancakes, Mexican sour cream, grilled sausages
Thank you.
I put chili crisp on so many things. I have one jar left in the pantry and am not sure when I’ll get to the Asian market again. It seemed like the perfect time to try the sauce. They are very similar but I kind of like the crunchy tofu bits in the sauce that the “regular” doesn’t have.
Yay for Mom - you only live once!
