Not fair to tantalize us this way!! Crab cakes - one of the most sublime things on earth… yours look as if they have very little filler, maybe just an egg to bind? :crab:

An egg and a little commercial bread crum, Mayo, “whatsthatthere sauce” etc… didn’t have saltines which would have been better

On the plate. This is the first time I snow balled them instead of forming a thick patty. A little side salad and remoulade

Love the turquoise and gold. Now all Mrs. P needs is a Jasmine outfit for those stuffed lobster and avocado dinners on the patio. I’m serious🙂

Yummmmmm! Do you make the gnudi yourself? Recipe?

My thoughts for you and your sister on your loss, as much as with anyone here, we send you comfort and love at this time.

Your entire plate looks delectable. Those frizzled leeks deserve a shout out of their own though. So good.

I did. I more or less followed the recipe from Leite’s Culinaria, but it was WAY too loose, so I had to add a lot more flour. And I used a technique from another recipe where you use a Ziplock bag with a corner cut off to pipe the dough into a pot of boiling water.

Due to having to cook the whole T-day meal myself, I’m sparing myself a lot of cooking work this week. So the dinners were a purchased frozen potato vareniki yesterday (I only caramelized the onions to stir in), the day before was wonton soup i.e. frozen TJs pork gyoza warmed in broth with some old FM bok choy tossed in. And Mon was the most work - I make a cold “anti-pasta” salad they all like. Effectively, all the veg you might find on an anti-pasto platter like roasted peppers, marinated artichokes, olives, pickled green beans, sliced sweet onions, and diced salami tossed with cold cooked pasta. No need to dress - just drizzle some of the pickling liquids on everything.

However, because it’s hard to be consistent, I also decided it was the right time to pitch in and feed my son’s high school drama troupe (taco salad for 20) because their rehearsals are going until after 8pm these days.

So for those who are doing T-day prep today, what do you do for dinner? I always plan to make something light and healthy, but then by the time I am done with all of my prep stuff the last thing I want to do is cook something else, so we end up ordering Chinese or pizza. I made a frittata just now for lunch, but that used up most of the random leftover things in the fridge so I won’t be able to do a clean-out dinner. We’ll see if this is the year I am able to get it together and actually cook!

Chicken noodle soup and Frrrrozen hot chocolate. Hot chocolate with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Put on my new minky-soft robe, and watch old movies.

Used to be the youngest & her BF would arrive Wednesday night & always request homemade pizza, so that was sort of a (tiring) tradition
for awhile; then there would be their favorite breakfast request the next morning, and also the expectation to be waited on hand and foot. Grown kids seem to regress to childhood behaviors while home. After packing them up with tons of leftovers on Saturday, I was exhausted. Now that they’re parents to fur babies (2 hellcats), they always go home Thursday night or Friday morning. Hate to say it, but kind of a relief…they are maturing & even bring stuff now, sometimes already made! Have no clue for dinner tonight, but something blessedly easy. Don’t care what.

Serendipity for us that I did a pot roast last night with a PSTOPotatoes. Waiting in a sauce pan of gravy for tonight’s meal.
