Ha, and I was sure it was you!
There is no thicker, harder skull than a Lab. I’ve had my share of ouches from my big boy when he got a little TOO wound up about something. This is the Wonderbeast – all 135 pounds of him (he’s not overweight - just a huge dog)
Hey, lingua, I probably missed it, but can you post a link to your FB page? I couldn’t find it.
Well, I could… but since the same thing is going on over here & we need more warm bodies/action on the HO site than my dumb ole Fb group – why not keep it all here?
Touche!
The four year old and I ditched the bloke yesterday and had a seafood frenzy at a friend’s house a couple of hours drive from where we live. Lobster rolls for lunch. Prawns grilled over charcoal for dinner with a salad from their garden. Dessert was figs and plums also from their wonderful garden. I’m jealous of their microclimate but not of their practically nonexistent internet connection.
Tonight’s dinner will be a freezer dive with some cucumber and carrots cut up on the side.
Hello from Berheenia!
From me, too! I’m pretty sure most WFD regulars probably do. We look forward to reading about his Italian food adventure this Easter. (OK, Steve h.? :D)
Fab lunch! I’m in the midst of winter here!
There are still people who prefer to live without internet connection. I think we could all adapt if we had to. I was on Phu Quoc island in south Vietnam for a week. No electricity, no paper, telly, empty beach every day, no passports (in Vietnam you must surrender your passports to the lodging’s owner, innitially). It was total bliss! When we got back to mainland Vietnam we learnt of the tsunami!
“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.”
Me too.
SiL’s surgery went well yesterday. There’s more hospital visiting today - hence another offering from the freezer’s brown gloop drawer, to be warmed up as and when possible. In this case a spicy veggie casserole. Baguette for the carb.
The bloke’s loss. Yours and the 4yo’s gain!
I think you’re right, although much of my current life depends on the internet for research. That said, I am the only person I know who does not carry a mobile phone. Never felt the need for one.
LOL, Harters. I would be lost with out mine. We got rid of the old “home phone”, saved us a bunch of money. And I use smart apps to do our shopping. Works so much better and more efficient.
Tonight is Chili in the crock pot. Used Kidney, Pinto, Black and Cannelloni Beans, diced tomatoes, diced green peppers and diced onions, fresh grated garlic, chili powder and cayenne pepper and a few other items out of my cupboard. Also used Ground Sirloin. Tastes fantastic. To go with, will be some cheddar and garlic biscuits topped with garlic butter. Of course, there will be wine, but I’ll let DH pick that out when he gets home. Here is a pix. of what is in the crock pot now (and believe me, it’s an OLD crock pot).
Will you share your recipe? It looks delish. What did you serve it with, if I may ask?
I shall leave that to the fine folks who are members of this group here and on my Fb group.
Knock yourselves out '-D
WFD: Hmong Market Soup. I’ve never made this but it looks to be a typical Hmong combination of sweet, sour, and hot. It will be good practice leading up to the Hmong Farmers who are at our local Farmers’ Market from June - October.
The ingredients are: onions, carrot, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, chicken stock, coconut milk, peanut butter, cooked chicken meat, S & P, turmeric, crushed pepper flakes, lots of cilantro. I’m inclined to include a few leaves of mizuna and mustard greens for which there may be precedent.
The recipe comes from one of my latest purchases, “Savoring the Seasons of the Northern Heartland”. It incorporates food from the Upper Midwest. The title reminds me of one of my favorite movies, “Pure Country” starring George Strait, the gentleman king of country music. Which brings out my nerdy love of ^Some^ country music.
Yeah, gave the landline the heave ho a few years ago. That saved $30/mo. I use the phone for security but also plenty of food reasons
Hi Folks!
Long time, no post. The creep in crud turned into worse. I have copd (my own Damn fault for smoking) so WFD has been catch as catch can.
The Oven still doesn’t work. The DH took out the motorboard. Waiting for replacement. Calling someone to fix anything is against his …everything.
I do have a countertop convection oven. Hate it. But it hasn’t mattered because I haven’t cooked anything in it this past week either.
Sorry for being such a party pooper.
Tonight is broccoli and cheese soup. One of my fave!
Take Care
ETA Apparently motorboard is something different…very different.
Motherboard is the correct term. Lol
Really lol.
