I too have a bottle of DP, that my business partner gave me 2 year ago… for Christmas… (I don’t even like champagne)
Aaaah
We had dinner at our friends’ place. Bbq chicken thighs, watermelon, and butter-roasted beets and sweet potatoes. It was good. We brought a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.
thanks for tip about microplaning
I always have to hit it on my bowl , afraid I would crack it.

thanks!
I was just going to go with with a Pre-Game glass of wine and call it good. Too damn tired.
But then I got rumblies in my tumbly.
So I came up with a quick Game: steak and cheese panini on sourdough with caramelized onions.
Went with both potato chips and Fritos because I couldn’t decide. So that was my vegetables: potato and corn.
And more pre-game.
Uh oh! Not MY method, not quoting myself. Should have been clearer.
OTOH, I like and use this method.
We had another excellent takeout dinner at Don Pepe ll. We had our usual twin stuffed lobsters with shrimp, scallops, and crab; stuffed avocado with the same stuffing, and clams casino. We washed it all down with a great 2014 El Salvaje Malbec
Family favorite dim sum yesterday with some additions.
Prawn cheung fun, har gow, spare ribs in black bean sauce, vegetable cheung fun, truffled edamame dumplings, vegetable chive dumplings, roast pork cheung fun, spicy seafood dumplings, prawn and black mushroom dumplings, and a few orders of spring rolls (consumed by a single child). Along with sweet corn soup, hot and sour soup, simple hakka noodles, fried rice, asparagus and tofu stir-fry, and chicken with soy and chilli.
I managed to get a couple of pics… not a lot
This dim sum is better than any I’ve had in NYC, with the possible exception of Hakkasan, which it’s on par with. Wrappers and filling both.

Drink it ASAP. Any day is a good day to enjoy.
Sometimes we have to drink it out of plastic cups (when travelling) so now I buy DP when I see them because it’s not always readily available in some places.
The partner and I were laughing like Beavis and Butthead when we saw this in Argentina.
PS: I have to remember not to use acronyms… “J/K” = joking
No - but what a great idea. I may start a campaign for “British Birthday Months”.
That said, this is our celebratory season. The Harters & Hartess anniversary comes up mid August (47 years believe it or not) with herself’s birthday being just a week ago.
Belated birthday greetings! Great year!
All excuses for a fine meals. I don’t care much about birthday gifts myself, but excuse for good food, yes!!
Most males around me don’t really like champagnes. Females go crazy though… My MIL asked my husband a bottle of DP recently, I don’t think mr. N got the message but bought a cheap bottle in the supermarket since he doesn’t drink it himself. LOL.
To start - leftovers from last night’s mezze
To follow - fried sea bass, saute potatoes, confit tomatoes , green beans
Cheese - we still have some of the bargain buy of a couple of week’s ago - Stilton and a German smoked (which isnt very smoky)
Dessert - the remnants of yesterday’s lemon tart.
we used to have a birthday month at work ( now retired)
There were 40 employees ( the first ambulatory surgery center, a pioneer in that kind of service) plus surgeons who have privilege that come to our center . Towards the end of each month, we celebrate and offer cake, ice cream, drinks, appetizer for any any employee or surgeon whose birthday falls on that month at the end of the day which would be 4:00PM. The names of celebrant would be published in our cafeteria. It was good business practice, great for relationship.
That is a thing of beauty Great picture @Mr_Happy!
Damn, that looks good!
I reached into the dwindling veggie burger supply last night. Black bean burgers with chipotle mayo and garden tomatoes. Sweet potato fries on the side. Simple and satisfying. Too much cheese, just the way I like it. And plenty of wine to wash it down.
Time to replenish the freezer stash of veggie burgers.
