I LOVE that stuff!! Actually just ran out the other day, but that’s a fabulous idea to everything-ify any future everything free bagels :))

First loaf of the season. Everyone ate it their own way.

I saw this on the endcap, big display and wondered if the premade was worth it. Handy for baking too.

Mussels and clams, , mussels and sea bass, , and “broken pasta” in Sorrento.

Back to California tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians on the board!

Last night we had festive feast at a friend’s house as my husband is currently working somewhere way the heck up in Northern Alberta. This is a colleague from work who likes to cook- he did a sous vide turkey (done in parts), some lovely roasted carrots and potatoes, plus stir fried chard, steamed green beans, two kids of sweet potatoes- roasted and the casserole kind, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy. I brought a salad, as requested, a mixture of imported irish beers and made caramel apples for dessert.

Desserts were a mixture of store bought pies (blech)- I could have made one, had I known, an interesting burnt butter cake and caramel apples.

It was an enjoyable evening.

Tonight, I have to cook up a small chicken- I’m thinking of doing some sort of curried roast chicken. Haven’t quite decided yet.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming over here…
Last night i tried the frozen roasted delicata squash from trader joe’s that i had been avoiding-i hate most frozen veg because of serious texture issues- and was surprised and thrilled! Really excellent. Added to a salad with lots of edamame, sunflower seeds, some red onion, and iceburg.

Glass of gewurztraminer a la carte

Similar yet different tonight, big salad of everything with olives, sunflower seeds, the last sad bit of cilantro, scallions, hemp seeds, the edamame is under there somewhere. Yellow bell pepper too, another glass of the lovely wine.

I’m 60 years old. How did I get here? I don’t feel it - most of the time.

But the day was pleasant - breakfast at Vic’s Waffle House, then antiquing in central NH.

Only bought a single item for all of $5.25, but I had a good day. Actually, I had a good weekend.

Dinner tonight was roasted chicken that marinated in buttermilk, Dijon mustard, honey, salt, pepper, minced rosemary, dried thyme, and marjoram. Sides were lemon-parsley rice and steamed green beans. There was wine. It’s my right as a 60yo. Or a 30yo.

And I “harvested” the last tomato off a very sad looking tomato plant on my deck. NO idea how it survived on this scraggly plant, but it did! LOL
