I seem to be in pizza mode lately. Yesterday it was grilled pizza for the holiday. And grilling was the way to go in the heat. Sort of looks continental.

So after much convincing, I got a local to tell me where a “real” one of these restaurants is. It was a little too authentic at first, no menu with pictures, just writing on the wall behind the cash register. Picked 3 random things (turned out to be cold beef salad, lamb kabob, and noodles with a marinara type sauce.) All great! Too hungry and befuddled to take pics. Hopefully will take some pics tomorrow night.

It is still wicked hot here in the north east. Although we might have a break over the weekend.
Dragged my youngest to Trader Joes for coffee and wine and then to a favorite BBQ place.
Ribs with cucumber salad, potatoes and corn bread. Ate some everything but finished off the cucumber salad, it really hit the spot. Could of eaten a double order.
He had ribs and wings combo.
The photo are the leftovers plus cornbread and dirty rice. Tomorrow’s lunch.

Wow, you are brave! I would have pointed at the neighbour’s dishes…

What was the name of the place?

Thanks, lately I have a sweet tooth… and I have watched too many pastries chef shows on TV. Couldn’t resist!

Had clouds and rain this evening so my west facing kitchen was more pleasant to work in. Dinner was beef ribs braised in a dry cider* until falling off the bone. Removed foil, sauced and cooked a bit longer and hotter for 45 minutes. Sides were potato salad and a cuke/tomato salad dressed with a fancy vinegar (don’t recall the variety) and evoo.

*I really like the Newton’s Folly from TJ’s in the summer. Crisp and refreshing. This year it is sold in a can, prior years it was in a bottle with a red and a green apple version. Adding an inch to the ribs worked well. I drank the rest to, you know, avoid leftovers!

Haha, I wish I could tell you. I have the receipt somewhere. It’s a big yellow sign, on NiuJie (Ox Street), south of the NiuJie Mosque, and on the opposite side of the street as the mosque. Right next to a crosswalk that’s in the middle of the street, i.e., a real crosswalk that’s not at an intersection.

Tonight our AirBnB housemates made stir-fried clams, shrimp, and greens for us. With white rice.

When I buy whole (small) heads, I do wrap it up. But I don’t eat cooked cabbage, and only like coleslaw a few times a year - so other than slivering it up for salads, I’m not sure how else I could use it up. I’d still prefer a quarter wedge of small green and red cabbages for my purposes.

If it had a fried egg on it, @mariacarmen would find you and marry you. Or at least force you to make her a burger like it. LOL

Yeah, if you don’t like it cooked, even a small head will last forever! We don’t eat that much slaw either, but I usually quick pickle some (just dump the brine from a jar of pickled jalapenos over it plus some extra vinegar to cover, then stick it in the fridge) for taco garnishes and then use the rest in stir fry.

Salt it, add caraway or Korean spices. Ferment for a week or so, then you have sauerkraut or kimchee.

I think most supermarkets will cut a cabbage in half for you. I’m not sure about about a quarter. Check with a manager.

We had friends over for drinks - I set out GF pretzels, candied coconut, pistachios, and steamed edamame. Random courtesy of bare fridge and pantry after travel. Made the babe some gnocchi marinara and we polished off the rest for dinner ourselves.

Hi fives to everyone. Food sounds and looks great!

Neither is attractive to me, unfortunately.
