Had an absolutely stunning eggplant tortellini in a tomato broth at Philly’s Illata (a great BYOB recommendation for your Philly friends).
I realized after I saw the photo that I could have garnished it with some chopped green onion. Next time.
We made cod last night, too! I topped mine with buttered whole wheat Ritz cracker crumbs. Served with roasted green beans, pesto whole wheat angel hair, and a Brussels sprout slaw with pumpkin seed dressing and pepitas.
Nominations for Dish and Cuisine of the Quarter are open!
BF made me a gigantic salad with extra crispy tofu - somehow, the tofu had gotten frozen in the fridge, and when he defrosted it and tried to slice it, it crumbled into craggy bits, which made for crunchiness throughout rather than the usual creamy center when fried. Excellent! Would love those with a cocktail. And for himself, a Mexi-bowl with leftover steak i brought home from my sister’s.
gorgeous! the taters look particularly fluffy.
Bibigo pork and veg potstickers/dumplings, with Dumpling Daughter Sweet and Spicy Sauce. Side salad of chopped cukes, radishes, and cherry tomatoes with a Sesame-Ginger vinaigrette.
Ohhh, there WAS wine!
Tonight I made Jamaican chicken curry on @Zoeliculious’ recommendation. I really liked it. I followed the recipe except for adding more carrots and potatoes, some cabbage wedges, chicken bouillon, a splash of soy sauce, and a bit more coconut milk. (Yes, this qualifies as me following the recipe
.) Served over brown jasmine rice.
Sweet and spicy broiled chicken thighs. Cukes in an Asian-inspired vinaigrette with chopped peanuts. Steamed rice. No leftovers.
Looks so good. Nice.and crispy.
90 degree heat calls for a BA salad. Taylor Farms Sweet Kale salad kit which included the dried cranberry and pumpkin seed topping. Used bleu cheese dressing. My additions were a carrot, radishes, broccoli, a perfect small avocado, and croutons. Daisy cottage cheese for protein.
Pizza Friday! This time used the Roberta’s dough recipe, we were too tired to do anything other than pepperoni, though the older kid had olive and pepperoni
We had more of the dense but delicious chocolate babka for dessert. I forgot to post the recipe last time, which is delicious and beautiful when done right
'Tis spring and 'twas a beautiful spring day. Flora from Trader Joe’s in Medford.
Reuben on San Francisco sourdough because I couldn’t find any good rye. Kosher dill, extra crispy ff garlic fries. Incline cider.
Finally got around to CB cuz the BF was craving it. Local place that corns meat sells what is called Povi Masima - corned beef via Samoa (!!), which uses a fatty cut of brisket (i imagine the point cut), well-marbled, and produces an extremely tender, fattier piece of meat. We had it like 6 years ago and loved it - it was the best CB I’d ever had. I asked for that again this week and didn’t even look at the package. BF made it tonight, cooked it for 3 hours, along with the fixings. While the CB was tender, it was really dry! Great flavor, but dry, and not particularly fatty. So i looked at the package and it simply said Corned Beef Brisket - no mention of any cut. So I’m not even sure if they gave me what i requested. oh well, next time… at least the taters were soaked in butter…
love that char!
The daffodils are so pretty!!
Thanks for posting them.
Someone was asking about potatoes going bad in another thread. Well, I checked my potatoes and it was time to use them. I scrubbed, peeled and shredded a 5 pound bag for this casserole. This will make six servings. I’ve got a few potatoes left in another bag – I’ll use them up next week.
Potatoes, Onions, Carrots and some cheese Casserole. (I wish I would have had a few more carrots in stock, but it worked)
My potatoes were full-on sprouting, so I separated them into chunks and put them in grow bags. Hopefully I won’t have to buy potatoes!
