What's For Dinner #122 - the Daylight Slips Away Edition - September 2025

Another sympathy vote here! We got low flush toilets in my apartment building recently and they stink  My first world problems pale compared to yours :frowning:

UGH. Have they given you any indication of timing on finishing it?

I feel your pain. A couple of years ago we had a similar but much more wide-ranging water leak and had to live in a hotel for three months (including our dog). Total nightmare!!!

No. I have to find a contractor to do the restoration. Probably going with the same company that is handling the remediation.

thanks!

That’s awful. Glad you got through it safely. It took a couple of tries to find the actual leak but it’s repaired now.

wow, that was a great price on the chop, if it had not been spoiled!

Not very hungry tonight thanks to the big OZ putting in some work(down 6 lbs already), and was feeling a bit artsy fartsy(1960’s calling?) , so I threw together some tuna salad(diced pickle, purple onions and Hellmann’s with a dash of hot sauce) and came up with this stunning creation!  I hear NOMA is looking for chefs

Hosting a ladies night for 8 of my gal pals at casa lingua. Gimlets by yours truly for thems that wanted any, plenty of Sicilian rosé, Indian food delivered straight to our doorstep, and a warming, mesmerizing fire on our patio thx to one of the best Covid purchases we made back in the day: the solo stove.

We barely used it last summer/fall bc it was so disgustingly humid & buggy, but tonight is going to be perfect for it

Hadn’t taken anything out for dinner, so a Market Basket rotisserie birdie for $4.69 to the rescue. Didn’t see any store management to ask how everyone is feeling the day after the Board fired Artie T.

Leftover Basmati rice and sautéed sugar snap peas, red bell pepper and onions were the sides.

No picture. And I hollered at Murphy for jumping up on to the kitchen counter WHILE I was dismantling the bird! WTH, dude?:enraged_face:

I made pounded sourdough pretzel-coated baked chicken thighs with broccoli cheese and a mixed green salad with leftover quinoa and chickpeas along with carrots, cucumber, raspberries, nectarine, and sweet and spicy glaze pecans w/raspberry vinaigrette.

:open_mouth: I feel pretty certain that would cost double that here, each!

Told BF that dinner was dealer’s choice from the chest freezer, so he took out some sole fillets. Dinner tonight was fideos with tomato, sole, spinach, and garlic, along with some roasted broccolini on the side. I used this recipe from Food and Wine magazine as a jumping off point:

I picked up a store bought rotisserie chicken today too. A big fat half cold chicken sandwich tonight on lightly buttered and a little mayo on multi grain bread. Handful of Lay’s and a dill pickle.

A bowl for me tonight. My new blates with a layered bowl - chopped kale, quinoa, steamed haricots verts (the other thread created a want), seared ribeye, and a drizzle of honey mustard.

Huge serving but Ill take half to work tomorrow.

This week my meals are getting rearranged/replaced. I had tonight’s dal on Monday, last night I had a pork chop, corn on the cob and green beans and tonight I had a rice pilaf.
