So glad you liked it!
Hit 100F today and wasn’t in the mood for leftovers or anything hot. Had crudités with honey mustard dressing and didn’t take a photo since it’s been done before. Now trying to stay away from the ice cream, cookies, vodka, crackers, chips……the last two are low sodium versions so not worth it anyway. I’ll eat some fruit.
Ugh. The struggle is real. I wish I could just go to sleep.
I hear ya. Tough road.
Hosted 9 of my gal pals for a showing of Moonage Daydream on the big screen last night, which none of us had seen yet. We ordered Detroit-style pizza: one dill pickle, one hot honey pepperoni, one vodka sauce.
I’ve been promoting the place heavily in various local food groups bc I would like them to stick around, so they gave us one pie on the house, and one of the guys working there told me he runs an Indian place in town. I asked if it was the relatively new Delhi Junction, where I’d taken a group after they first opened & very much enjoyed my saag paneer. He told me we should come back, so maybe I’ll try to gather a few friends next week for another visit
The pizza would’ve been perfect if there hadn’t been a group of students in line to put in their order, so it wasn’t as hot or crispy as it should’ve been, but the ladies still went to town on it.
Photos obviously taken after the horde got to the πs
My PIC made a pitcher of PR sangria to start us off, and provided his skilled cocktail services (Manhattan, Margarita, Martinez/Martini) for the rest of the evening.
One of my gal pals is on some dumb-ass fasting regimen for all of August where she doesn’t eat between 8am and 6pm or some nonsense. Well…. the combination of one of my PIC’s very strong martinis, a hit of my equally powerful flower, plus a cigarette on top of all that had her faint when we were outside
Oy. At least she didn’t hurt herself, but it kinda threw a wrench in our movie viewing plans. No matter — gals were chatting happily & so we just had Mr. Bowie playing in the background and ended up watching the first and second South Park episodes. The second was almost as good as the first one, but I was hoping for another PSA
Crazy night, but everyone got home ok. Whew.
I’ll be curious to hear how you do on it. As I mentioned before, several friends of mine are on it or were on it, mostly for weight-loss purposes. The ones who stopped gained 2/3 of their weight back within weeks.
The ones who are still on it are not much fun to go out to eat with. They don’t enjoy food the way they used to & are generally uninterested in it.
I initially thought it’s interesting that someone would show up at a pizza party when they are fasting but then you mentioned she’s only fasting at a specific time… I’ve heard of those intermittent fasting diets and I’m not a fan. (Actually I’m not a fan of a lot of those diets but I digress…) Glad to hear she’s okay.
And you are awesome to promote the local pizza place. I think it’s a hard time for the restaurant industry everywhere and I’m sure they appreciate your business.
Our town is particularly tricky for the hospitality and restaurant business, as summers are practically dead, and most of the students seem to only want the same cheap-ass crap (bad pizza, burgers, wings, tenders) from the same uninspired places.
Any restaurant that caters to the adult/non-student population and does a good job deserves my support. It’s really in my own interest to keep these places going
Everybody is different but I found intermittent fasting one of the most efficient ways to lose (and maintain) weight (coupled with regular sport$ Ultimately in the big picture, losing weight is about calorie deficit however you are most comfortable to achieve it. Skipping one meal a day (for me breakfast) is a very easy and successful way
I served this “Ranch” Mac & Cheese last night as a side to some brats. It was actually pretty good. I had never heard of it, but I got it on clearance (35 cents), so I figured it was worth a try.
Has anyone else had it??
Had my first injection today AAMOF, for me the pros outweigh the cons and since I’m type 2 db it should be a win win situation. Now that I’m 65, I’m only paying a fraction of the cost($4 a pen), plus a small dispensary fee, thanks to our universal health care plan. I’ll keep you updated after a few weeks.
I’m the type that needs my three square meals a day so to each his own I guess. I’ve been using Weight Watchers and lost 20 lbs last year. I plateaued this year, mostly because I discovered a recently opened grocery store has some really good cakes so I have been making my way through sampling them. I am going to have to re-think my shopping strategy when I’m there so as to avoid the pastry counter
THAT is a perfect butter pond!
I agree everybody has to find their own, most comfortable way to do things. Only one comment on being used to three meals a day - when I started it ~10-15 years ago I was also initially skeptical if I could do it as I was also used to three meals a day but after reading some decent scientific results I wanted to try it and all I can say is that the human body is very adaptable in general. There might be an one month transition period but your body can adapt easily to any regiment you want to do including your only having two meals a day
I’ll have to look for that. I love their pb base but I always go for the pb cup flavor. When I get it at all!!
Def if you’re type 2, and if it’s affordable… I just think you may not like how it makes you feel is all.
You may not even have any effect from it until they ramp up the dosage. They start you low so side effects are minimized, ideally.
I wouldn’t feel comfortable skipping meals since I already fainted a few years ago and I’m pretty sure it was because I was hungry and I am not interested in going through that again. I had planned on going to an Asian night market three years ago so I had a light “lunch” that day mostly carrot and celery sticks IIRC just to tide me over until dinner. I had a busy day running errands and I also remember feeling tired when I got home but mostly I was STARVING. I think I should have stayed home and gotten delivery but I headed up to the night market anyway. I was nearly there (only one block away) and I passed out. Some kind passerby called 911 and stayed with me until the ambulance arrived and after spending the night in the hospital getting an ECG test and CT scan they determined there was nothing wrong with me then sent me home. The test results were sent to my family doctor who called me on Monday morning to ask what happened. After hearing my story he told me that it sounds like I just fainted and it’s usually caused by being hungry, tired or a sudden drop in blood pressure. In my case it was probably caused by being hungry and my doctor told me to just make sure I eat three proper meals a day in future and I am planning on following his advice.
Currently, I’m on 6 teeny meals a day emphasizing increased
protein. Hard to do, the half-ish stomach only holds so much solid food and liquid. I try to balance things out, I am not an eater of the same thing day in and day out. There is a 20g protein per serving flavored Greek yogurt that I’ve become fond of. It works for a
snacky. It is VERY uncomfortable if I fill up too much. If I make a sandwich it might be 1 piece of bread, 1 slice of meat, 1 slice of cheese, a slice of tomato, a bit of romaine lettuce, a swipe of mayo, a swipe of prepared horseradish, for heat you know, cut it in half and I can finish of about 2/3 of that. 3 months out of surgery, it is going slow, and I can see miniscule progressions. I used to love to eat and cook. The brain fog has reduced that greatly. I’d like to see the energy return.
