that looks unbelievably good.

those are gorgeous hunks of meat!

last of the aji amarillos (sob!) were part of the leftover paste, which marinated chicken thighs for two days, along with a rub of @WeezieD’s paprika blend. So good. i made a salsa criolla (here, thinly sliced red onion and radish, marinated in lime juice, and cilantro, salt), as well as the usual carbed-up Andean accompaniments of potatoes (a la Huancaina again) and rice, with hard boiled egg and a black olive garnish. god i love Peruvian food.

and last night’s pizzas, courtesy of the BF: he made the khachapuri dough again, but this time he didn’t heat up the pizza stone long enough, so we didn’t love the crust. still, pretty good. one was tomato/salami/mozz, the other hot italian sausage/pesto/shrooms/mozz.

happy weekend, y’all!

We took a long road trip up to Monterey to catch a day of car week. Dinner was in San Luis Obisbo, about half way home. We shared some charred snap peas with a curry spice and lemon grass chicken meatballs to start. The meatballs were so good; tender and flavorful. We shared a burger and fries.

No food pics, but this guy was sure enjoying his celebrity treatment!

Still not sleeping well, but trying to make an effort for dinner tonight.

Maple-Lime Sockeye Salmon, Rice Pilaf (Near East), and steamed green beans. A small glass of wine with dinner. An ice cream sandwich for later, if I want it. And hopefully some sleep later tonight.

Still no much actual cooking going on here with how hot it is. Lots of chop and assemble meals!
Last night was out with friends, and tonight I celebrated Ripe Avocado Day by trying to make a stuffed avocado- they look so fabulous in photos but honestly it wasn’t easy to eat! I had a rather small avocado and had filled the middle with a lentil veggie salad of sorts but that was like maybe 2TB per half. And then eating it the avo half tips over and you’re left chasing lentils around the plate! Jeeez. I gave up and scooped the avocado with the lentil mix into a bowl with some greens.
Glass of reisling a la carte

I’m a big believer in better living through chemistry… have you tried melatonin? Or some OTC sleep aids like Zquil or the generic equivalent?

Funny photo, Aussie.

Glass of Riesling to Ttrockwood. Enjoy your time off, finally!

LindaW, hope you get some good sleep soon, and that’s it’s just a phase at the moment.
I’m miserable even with a couple of hours less. My whole day is ruined.

Melatonin didn’t work. (Also found out it didn’t work for my Mom.) Am trying other recommendations of a small glass of dark cherry juice and 500 mg Magnesium about 45 minutes before going to bed.
