Aloo palak paneer with miso soup and basmati rice
Red Lentil Soup with Garam Masala - red lentils are cooked in a mixture of vegetable broth, coconut milk, diced tomatoes, bin bhuna hua garam masala, onions, garlic and fresno chili. Carrots and chickpeas are separately sautéed in coconut oil with the garam masala and added to the soup at the end with some fresh mint.

Slurp up!
Greek here as well! Opa!
I’d made a rez for my PIC, his buddy and me at our favorite Greek place in town — we’d not had a single Greek meal while here, so it was high time. Why all the good Greek restaurants are located in the southwest of the city is beyond me, but in this case it was convenient, bc our buddy had post-dinner plans to explore a few gay bars, and Schöneberg just happens to be the gay nabe. I’d asked a former colleague for recommendations, and after a post-meal cocktail at one of our favorite cocktail bars we sent him on his merry way
We split the pikilia kria, their small mezze plate, and it was a bit disappointing, TBH. The tarama and melitsano used to be much better, and the portion was also much smaller than we’re used to.
The choriatiki had some type of stupid balsamic (!) dressing on it and arugula.
Blasphemy! We also ordered kolokithakia tiganita and melitsanes tiganites, yet seemed to receive two plates of melitsanes only. WTF. They were good, but…
That said, their souvlaki game is still
I remembered the skewers to be on the smaller side, so I ordered 2 pork & 2 lamb souvlaki for each of us… WAY too much meat!
1 of each would’ve been plenty. We took a bunch home, tho I’m not sure when that’ll be et bc tonight we return to the fried chicken place. Oops.
that palak paneer looks delicious. my favorite Indian dish.
oh, i thought it had to do with when they spawned, making the oysters less plump and a little more watery in the summer months. but that’s never stopped me.
We stepped out to one of favorite pan-Asian places today.
We focused on sushi and dim sum only, no soup, rice, noodles, or mains that we are usually distracted by
So delicious, but soooo much food!
Har gow, seafood and black pepper dumplings, seafood dumplings in chilli oil, chicken and prawn shiu mai, prawn cheung fun, seafood dumpling with XO sauce, crispy prawn cheung fun, and xlb.
And the maki: wild salmon, avocado, truffle roll, prawn roll with aji amarillo, spicy tuna roll, house special prawn tempura roll, another tuna roll, and another salmon roll, and a plain fawn tempura roll.
Ooooof.
(A probiotics and digestive enzyme supplement for dessert because my friend from NYC gets in tomorrow with her whole family and it’s about to get craaaaazyyyy.)
None of this was homemade.
But a 2-step marinade makes a big difference (1st with just salt, lemon juice, chilli powder, second with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, and dry powdered tandoori masala — buy it, there will aways be spices you don’t have if you try to make it).
This schav, is schav. The stars aligned. It is perfect. Also, Total Fage makes sour cream, did you know this? Goes good in schav.
Roasted asparagus and oyster mushrooms with herb sauce, and panzanella made with a frozen quarter of an everything bagel I found in the back of the freezer and was like, why am I holding onto this? Now I’m not.
Like your plate!
The link above takes me to the paid wall. Do you know if the gift has expired?
Oops! Maybe I pasted in the wrong link?
Try this one:
Thank you! I bought it in Chinatown a few years ago and I have a similarly patterned wonton soup bowl and pho bowl.
Is that a known thing?
Once again, we celebrate Taco Tuesday! Chipotle rubbed salmon with pico de gallo, radishes, cilantro, scallions, and cotija cheese.
Decided to treat myself to a dinner out after my yearly eye exam at one of my favorite restaurants in the nabe, Little Sister. Started off with a tasty and refreshing Rum Punch then straight to the main courses.
The pork belly dish was a totally different rendition from the last time I was there, grilled and smoked instead of braised and while tasty, it was salty af and no where near as good as the last time I had it The Nasi Goring was as good as usual and the portion was big enough for leftovers to take home. Kinda disappointing, but not terrible so I’ll give them another shot later this summer.
Needed simple.
Which I expect will be the case through the rest of the week.
Bacon cheeseburger on a brioche bun, ketchup on the bottom, using a Wegmans chuck & brisket burger patty.
Wrap City kettle-cooked chips.
That’s it.
Tonight I made a beef and vegetable stirfry from The Woks of Life. I don’t know why it took so long to try recipes from that website - this recipe was delicious!
I’ve had success with every recipe I’ve tried from that website. Looking forward to hearing the results of your exploration.
I will be trying “As You Wish” veggies next - I can’t wait!
