MOAR tacos. I believe this will become somewhat of a tradition at casa lingua, bc the dude generally only has the Cajun shrimp tacos on Fridays, sometimes Saturdays if he doesn’t run out. We shared 2 of those, and the pork salsa verde. #lardylicious
Life is better when breakfast involves pizza.
Do you operate better with the carbs in the early part of the day?
Mostly just trying to keep my day balanced, and watch my sugars. But I have a milestone birthday coming up this month and I already started treating myself. Black Forest Cake tonight.
I’m probably better avoiding sugary refined carbs in the morning. Pizza doesn’t bother me. It’s the cookies!
They make me sleepy when I overdo them.
Soft boiled eggs (2) in soy milk kefir yogurt concoction topped with dried cured chinese sausages and sprinkled with furikake.
What’s this dish called you ask? It’s the “soft boiled egg in soy milk kefir yogurt concoction topped with dried cured chinese sausages sprinkled with furikake” dish.
No, no, that’s what we’re all calling morning nap. Enjoy!
Leftover soda bread with butter and slices of ham and havarti. Boiled egg. Pickled cherries.
The havarti didn’t add anything - next time, just the ham.
That ham looks fab!
That’s a store-brand carver ham from our local grocery. They’re nice quality, and super convenient. Pre-cooked, the 4-lb. version is great for when we have guests, and the 2-lb. version is not too much for us to handle. Freezes well. Makes for lots of meals.
Homemade peppermint ice milk nestled between two Destrooper butter waffle wafers. Technically, it’s waffles for breakfast.
Shrimp and grits, fried chicken and biscuits.
We’re going to New Orleans for my bday and Jazz Fest this weekend but somehow thought we’d go to Brenda’s, I guess for a warm up or something:
Happy birthday! Sounds like a great getaway
Thanks! Should be a great 5 days (of eating!).
Go to Felix’s and have some chargrilled oysters for me. I could live on those indefinitely!
Thanks, will try and make it. New Orleans is always a whirlwind besides the spots we book. So much good food and, ya, things just kind of go the way they go. I’ve been there a bunch but never for Jazz Fest (which is supposed to have some actual good food) so we’ll see what happens. Thanks again for the rec and will report back if we make it, or just on the trip in general. I’m excited.
I’ve only been there once before, after having tried 4 times and things falling thru for various reasons, but last November the starts finally aligned (PIC’s conference, close friends of ours in town as well, good weather, not too crowded, etc). We ate really well & I just loved the whole vibe of the place.
I honestly can’t wait to go back
I made biscuits! Two ingredients, 2-1/2" tall and fluffy and so then
, biscuits and sausage gravy (for 2 servings) was called for. Delicious!
Is it wrong to have gelato for breakfast? Asking for a friend. In real life.
Is it… what?
